My MS tax return was approved on February 3rd. I got a letter saying I had to verify my identity on TAP (I did). I haven’t heard anything since. I have checked online and I have managed to get through on the automated line a few times and all it will tell me is that my return is being reviewed. The automated line says speaking to a live person won’t do any good because they won’t have any other information than what I have already been told. I don’t know what else I can do.

I filed my taxes back in January the very same day they arrived in my mailbox, as I always do. Had no issue with federal return and the refund was a quick turnaround as both returns have been every year prior.
It is May 22, however, 4 months after I filed online. It was received in January and Accepted soon after- it is set up for direct deposit and I have yet to receive any notice or update or anything.. I continue to call the hotline which states it was received and being reviewed and allow up to 90 days (from when?!) I’ve received no mail notification, Nothing At All. I don’t know how or who to talk to in hopes for resolution. I’m feeling frustrated and helpless. Surely I am not the only one this is happening to? Any advice or help? Please? -

It has been over 90 days now and MS website still says processing…and I have not received a letter or refund. Wondering if anyone else is having problems this year

My return was accepted Feb 5th, I chose direct deposit, haven’t received anything in the mail and still getting generic message. I’ve called and can’t get anyone. I’m so aggravated
-

My refund was approved early Saturday morning it is Monday morning what is the next step and how long am I going to wait can anybody help me with this
-
@ daniel if you chose a direct deposit to your bank it will be 24-48 hours.
I had the same problems you had. Filed both fed and state on the 25th of Jan. Both accepted the 28th. Got federal on the 27th of Feb because I had all three credits. But I usually have the state around the 9th-14th of Feb. And I called once a day from the 14th and got the same generic spill. I called them again on the 6th. Because that marked 5 weeks of processing without any updates. The lady very rudely told me they were sending out the verifying letter for w2s and point blank told me not to call again until I got the letter. Told my husband what happened when he got off work and he called. The lady that he spoke with cleared the verify for him and told him to ignore the letter that was being sent because she just did the clearing. It cleared the system that night. I checked the tap account the letter was there along with the cleared the system message. We received it on that Friday the 8th around 2-3 pm.
-
Finally got through this Monday 3-10-19, and same generic speak, saying was still processing.. Well miraculously, the next day I got a message on tap for me to send a copy of my w-2, so I did that Tuesday night, and today, 3-14-19 I’m finally getting a message saying that it cleared their system on Wednesday.. So now supposedly 7-14 days, I can’t remember how long it usually takes once this message is shown.. Will post for a timeline establishment
-
Svend
Yeah mine says it cleared their system on Feb 14. I’m still waiting on mine
-
Man this is utter bull shit. I filed on Jan 25. Got by fed do BEFORE FEBURARY. Everything was accepted but the same damn generic message is shown for nearly 2 months. I try and let it be, called a few weeks ago, and blah blah, you just have to wait a little longer.. So lately I’m wondering WTF is going on so trying to call back, and NONE OF THEIR FUCKING PHONES WORK. It rings once, then nothing. Every number I call in Clinton MS all do the same, 9237700 , all of them. Now what the hell is really going on. I know we usually are among the last to get ours with MS being dumbass hillbillies, I demand an explanation from them! Am I the only one who is having this problem? I frequent these forums when waiting on fed, but haven’t since my last post when Igmr end of January so I haven’t been reading. But this shit pisses me off.. We should have a way to get in touch with them. At the very least, if we have to wait months while they hold our money.. So aggravated. Going to keep trying, and when I succeed, I’m going to let them have it. Looking forward to others experiences on here. Just had to rant, this apparently this is the only available platform to do so, since they can’t pay the fucking phone bills.
-
Is anyone else having problems with the phone numbers to the MS dor? I can’t even talk to anyone bc the phones don’t even ring there…
-
HMM
Now im really ticked off. No updates to my online account or to the refund page. Called one a week since the 14th of feb. Told the same thing over and over. Processing takes 4-6 weeks. Everything looks good we dont need anything at this time.
Call in this morning because monday the 11th will be 6 weeks. Now they are sending a letter of identification for the w2s. I thought the revenue service recieved the w2s when you recieved them. I guess ill be waiting another 2 weeks for something that should have been already sent. -
Yaya
I chose direct deposit, but found out today that they will be mailing the check. I asked why and they told me that the system would kick out certain accounts because it maybe fraud for protection. He said cards like Greendot would be one of them. I just should have had it sent to my traditional bank account. He cannot tell me when they sent it out other than to tell me to wait 7-10 business days.
@ Sac, so it took 6 days for you to receive it?
-
HMM
Been waiting all month. Filed 1/25 both fed and state. Both accepted on 1/28. Last year got state on about the 10-13th of Feb. But this year still stuck with the annoying generic message of “its being reviewed and processed wait 90 days.” Called twice this week and was told both times it takes 4-6 weeks for it to process
-

I just received my Ms state tax in the mail 2/21/19 even though I had direct deposit checked on my return. It was processed on 2/15/19 I’m thankful for it either way.
-

I have the day of 2/15/2019 as well and still don’t have mine.
-

Hey My Ms state tax refund cleared their system on 2/15/2019 and I chose direct deposit and still don’t have it. Anyone with that day have it in their account yet?
-
@jessjames Yes I did, a few days before I received a identity verify notification to my online account, I did that and passed. So I called and explained to the rep what I was seeing and if it had something to do with the verification process, because I didn’t see any unopened letters in my online account. She had me verify some return specific info and she said the letter message was an error and to disregard it. Updated yesterday to a message saying my refund had cleared the system on Feb 13. So don’t worry about it, give it a day or two to correct itself and it’ll give you a cleared date…good morning!!!
-
Jazzy
@jessjames I had the same thing happen to me but mine was an offset an old college bill. I didn’t wait for the letter I called that number that was under the notice
-
I filed 01/31. Usually, MS state tax refund is approved within a few days. As of yesterday, I still had the generic 90 day review message. Then I saw I had a letter from them dated 02/05. It was NOT to verify identity. It was to verify that I filed the return. Went to return verification, entered my SSN, code they sent me, and refund amount. As of last night, my refund has been approved and they are sending a letter. If I don’t have the letter in 7-10 days to call them. Has anyone else gotten this message? I’m assuming it will not go DD now, like I requested.
-
Fastest turn around time ever. Accepted on 2/11 and approved/released 2/13. It has not hit my account yet though.
-
Katie
My state just hit. It was cleared the 11th so it took three days
-
Katie
My state just hit. It was “cleared” the 11th so it took about three days
-

Woke up to this message FINALLY:
Your refund has been approved. Your refund for the year 2018 cleared our system on February 11, 2019. Please allow 7 to 14 business days to receive your refund -
Jamhard
Filed Feb 2, 2019 and accepted Feb 2, 2019. Mine says it cleared Feb 11, 2019 and allow 7-14 business days for delivery. Hope this helps someone.

Desiree Andrews
has anyone gotten their state yet?
-
Does nobody know what’s time of day the Ms refund status site updates?
-
Desiree Andrews
K i efiled on the 2nd and already Got my Fed on a green dot, They sent a letter and verified ID over the phone then said ill be getting last years as well. Thats pretty cool because I filed joint with hubby and figured it just went to his ex lol aparantly not lol so lets see how long it takes to go on the card. it does say the balance credit on the dor site and its for both years last years says late processed and this years says on time processed so I guess they just have to deposit it.
-
AshMash84
Same generic message here; I’m anxious to find out something because my state tax is much larger than my federal refund, but I haven’t heard of anyone getting their money yet. Wonder what the holdup is…
-
Bone
No luck yet on ms tax refund. Same generic message about the processing and 90 review. Will update when things change
-
Toni
Anyone gotten their Mississippi refund yet? My grandmother’s and mine both say being reviewed allow 90 days, both of us have dealt with this before, no action was taken on mine just took longer and last year she had to ID verify.. I feel like it says this every year?
-
I’ve always had to wait a few weeks longer for state to finalize. MS is just slow, and the employees in Jackson are just lazy. This is the first year I’ve seen a credit so soon on tap. But I can almost guarantee that it will be no different this year. Filed on Jan 25th fed accepted on 26th and state a few hours later. On Feb 1 fed was approved with 2 bars and DDD of Feb 5. State has no change.. These state employees are lazy fat asses that won’t get in a rush to help anyone.
I predict the end of the month -
Dq
Anyone gotten their MS refund? Mine has been processed according to TAP on the 29th and the credit is sitting on my account. I had to wait 6 weeks last year, no mail or anything until I pressured them to actually look at my account. They asked me to email my w2 and it was released 5 minutes after. Idk why they needed the w2 cause from my understanding, its sent to them anyway
-
Larry
I waited patiently over 90 days with no changes to status on the website.
Called 6019237700 and they approved the return for payment while I was on the phone. The person stated that it just needed a final manual approval due to the amount of the return.
-
Teressag
Julie mason. Try and give them a call and ask for information regarding your refund.

Completed electronic tax return on 2/13/18. received Federal direct deposit within 2 weeks, had also filed Mississippi and NC State Tax returns. Called IRS.GOV line, both stated state tax returns were approved and processed. Received NC State tax return direct deposit within 2 weeks. As of today 4/13/18, no Mississippi State income tax. 8 weeks later, nothing.
-
Victor Blevins
I just went to the Mississippi refund website and it says that my refund has been approved. It also says to allow 7 to 14 days, but has anyone received this message and got their refunds sooner than that?
-
Sbaxter
I filed 1/31/18, received an ID verify letter and then received an under review letter. Sent all documents requested and my status still says being processed, wait 90 days, ect. Federal is done. Anyone else receive their state refund yet ?
-
SimmonsL
My state refund was approved and process on Feb 14, it said I should receive a check 7-14 business days
-
Terri
I’ve been waiting this long and they need a copy of my W2. Says a letter was sent but nothing on my tap.dor.ms.gov account. What’s the point of the website if it doesn’t tell you anything!?!
-
I just called and mine have been aapproved and was told to wait 5 to 7 business days before it is deposited into my account. But my status still says being reviewed. If it has been 4 to 6 weeks since your sent your w2s in i would call just check.
-
Larry & Evelyn Schruff
Just wanting to know that our refund id coming because we got our Federal in February.
-
Meka
What does the FalsePlease allow 7 to 14 days to receive your refund mean ?
-
jjben
We filed electronically; both federal and state returns were accepted February 2. We received our federal refund on February 9th. Still no state refund. The website says it’s “being reviewed” and to allow 90 days. I called on Monday and was told to give it the 90 days, and if we haven’t heard anything by then to call them back. Really? We got our state refund in one week last year, even before the federal. This is ridiculous, and the worst part is that they won’t give a valid reason for the delay.
-
Dawn B
I filed 1/29 and my status says “it’s being reviewed.” I got the letter last year to verify identity (assuming it was because it was my first MS tax return) but haven’t received anything in the mail to verify myself this year and people I know who just filed Sunday have already gotten there’s. Is there a way to call to get the letter sent to move this along. If I owed this amount, they would be all over me to pay it, but since they owe me, let’s see how long we can screw her over.
-
Cynthia
Headed to the local office in the morning. This is the 4th year in a row that my return was ‘reviewed.’ The first year, the system quiz said i failed even though I answered the questions correctly. The last two years, I didn’t even get the letter to verify identity. I JUST got all my money for the last 3 years in October by calling the state office and spazzing out. They finally sent the letter for me to send back documents. Told me that the system was random but I shouldn’t be picked again and lo and behold, I get the same thing. I need an explanation as to HOW a RANDOM systems picks the same people RANDOMLY every year???
If you got the ‘reviewing, give it 90 days’ bologna, just send your documents in IF you ever get the dang letter!!!!!
-
I called Mississippi Department of Revenue and the rep said my return is still being processed and if there is an issue i will receive something in the mail. So i told her about my friends and family that filed after me have their returns and she explained that there is no particular order they process the returns in some get theirs early and some don’t .
-
Lindsay Rector
@jazzedup let us know what you find out I’m still waiting on minenas well fed came in on the 14th. State accept the same day and still nothing
-
Terri
Federal & state return accepted 1/29 Still nothing.
-
Becky
I filed 1/30 but had Path on my federal.
-
Lindsay Rector
When did everyone file? I filed of feb 1st. Got my fed in feb 14, but still no state.
-
Becky
Mine was processed on Feb 16th but still no deposit. I hope the Amex Express network being down for two days didn’t mess it as I had it going to our bluebird card.
-
Ok so my Mississippi state refund just shut my bank at 11:00. Finally over for me. Some of y’all need to check your bank accounts
-
Kai
What does the FalsePlease allow 7 to 14 days to receive your refund mean ?
-
@ Jjstac : we all seemed to of had that message before getting our approval message. On Mississippi website there are how to videos that says that message means your done processing just waiting to get a ddd for your refund.
-
Jjstac
What does being reviewed mean? It’s also says you have to allow up to 90 days.. There has only been one year it took till August to get my refund. Every year since, I always get it before ferderal. I don’t understand what is going on.
-
CrssyPoo
Just received my MS state refund….it said approved on Feb 14-allow 7 to 14 business days, but went in on today.
@Tiffany
My boyfriends refund shows False Please allow 7-14 days as well. Just crazy -
Josh
Tiffany, mine said that yesterday, now today it says my refund was approved like everyone else’s.
-
Tiffany
What does it mean if your MS State tax message says : FalsePlease allow 7 to 14 business days to receive your refund.
-
I need someone else to post so i can vent without double posting lol.
ughEDIT: whoops, didnt check before posting. seeing this now on tap
Your refund has been approved. Your tax return for the year 2017 cleared our system on February 14, 2018. Please allow 7 to 14 business days to receive your refund.
-
Everyone is right, Though, i had a look at those videos, and they are several years out of date. I remember the refund search function looking like that, 2-3 years ago. Basically, they really dont want us asking about statuses, as they repeatedly say, “our reps will not have any additional information” and basically not to ask lol.. The MS DOR facebook page is a waste of space, with little to no activity, and no help at all. There IS some kind of difference this year, like i said, i’ve always been done by now, and I have not spoken to, or seen a single user that isn’t in the same situation. It’s rediculous, drives me nuts, especially because we could really use our little bit of money coming, im sure everyone here can relate. Last week, i was hoping for a refund by my birthday, ( sunday) and this week, Im hoping it will be sometime this week, So idk, im ranting, and venting and rambling, thats all i can do, and check status every hour it seems.. I cannot say that I am surprised by the useless officials at the Dept of Revenue in the state that is 30 years behind everyone, mississippi!
/Rant
Edit: Also forgot to realize that when we finally DO update, they will have an additional week tagged onto the extremely hard job of money transfering to our accounts. And we must wait several more weeks if we dont hear anything , for a tracer! ugh.
/Rant v 2.0
-
Agreed. I don’t think it took this long last year either. And if my Mississippi refund is still processing then why do I have the message of 90days. On their site on the how to videos it clearly states that my message means that I’m done processing and waiting on ddd
-
Amber
Okay but my federal return was processed before the 29th.
Even so, it didn’t take this long last year.
-
Just called and talked to someone at Mississippi Department of Revenue. He was nice and all and looked up my refund and said it is still being processed. To allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing to be done. Also that they didn’t start processing returns until January 29th like the irs.
-
Folks up there supposed to be doing our refunds are probably on bourbon st at mardi gras … this is crazy, i’ve always been done before the middle of feb..
-
marie reed
I don’t know of anyone who has gotten a refund from the state of Mississippi yet! This is awful!
-
Has anyone talked to anyone over the phone at the MS DOR ?
-
Yawn…
-
D’Quita
If you have a TAP account it tells you if your return has been processed, mine has been processed but doesn’t have a deposit date anywhere in sight.
-
@ Daniel. I was wondering the same thing about weekends. I looked on My Block and it is giving me an estimated date of 2-20-18 for Mississippi refund. Still says 90 days for me.
-
Amber
Still says being reviewed for me too, but it says 30 days instead of 90. I got my federal refund on Tuesday.
I normally get my state refund and federal refund within days of each other.
-
Does anyone know if MS dor issue refunds during the weekend?
Doubtful.. but im hoping so. -
melissa
Still saying review. uggggg
-
No updates here, still being “reviewed” ugh. i check it like 5 times a day lol. Was hoping it would be before my bday but probably gonna end up being next week. MS is so slow :(
-
Any updates on anyone’s state refund yet. Mine is still the same.
-
Monica
I just checked the status of my refund. Turbo tax says accepted for both at state and federal, but when I went into the MS State Tax webpage it’s says “it has been received and is being reviewed. If any additional info is needed they will contact me. Allow 90 days to receive your refund” My question is, Does this mean my refund was rejected? Am I being audited? Will this delay my refund?
-
Mine finally shows up as processing. Our state is just horribly slow. I have always got my fed weeks before state. No credits so fed is usually fast. Tap website shows my refund as a balance but nothing pending as far as DD. Im assuming that ms dor is the one that deposits the money and not sbtpg. I cant remember
-
This is what mine says exactly. “Your return was received and is being reviewed. If additional information is needed, you will be contacted by mail. Please allow 90 days for your return to complete processing.”
-
Any updates? Mine was initially rejected fixed through turbo tax. Then accepted. However TAP shows no refund for my social was found.
-
@michelleg @marie reed If you go to the website there are training videos and one of them is how to use the refund status site. In that video it clearly says that message means your return has been processed. So i’m thinking that Ms won’t release until your federal has cleared. Last year I had to ID Verify and my state didn’t budge until after my federal cleared, i got it 11 days before my federal deposited into my account.
-
@ Marie Reed. My Mississippi state return is showing the same thing. Have you found out anything yet.
-
marie reed
I filed Mississippi on 1/29/18. Checked the website and it says “your return has been received and is being processed. Please allow 90 days”. Is this just a generic message for MS filers?
-
Bump.
Filed on the 18th, Turbo tax says my fed was accepted (however no email from irs, yet) Wmr shows nothing. State shows pending, MS seems like they always slow when it comes to processing.
Where my MS people at? -
P
Filed through a Preparer 4-14-17 efiled.State law says they must send return in 90 days, its been 99 days.Automated system only says being reviewed.Time to start raising cane.
-
Jess
I filed my 2017 tax return on 02/27/2017 (4 days ago). I was accepted that same afternoon and knew it would take weeks. Out of pure curiosity, I decided to check the Mississippi status website early Wednesday morning and found my refund had been approved and cleared their system on 02/28. I received my MS State income tax refund in my bank account this morning. I also received an 846 Refund Issued code on my Account Transcripts. This is a great day, but next week will be even better!!
-
Robin
State taxes went from approved will receive within 5 days to approved, cleared our system on feb 7, will receive within 5 days. Anyone know how long it actually takes?
-
Brokejoke
Submitted/accepted feb 1
Approved feb 8They usually stick to that 5-7 day time frame. Should have payment next Wednesday. Hopefully sooner, as this seems to be a smoother process this year.
-
I checked this morning and it was finally approved.
-
Check your status
-
Any new updates? Ours says “reviewd,” but it always says that. It tends to release after federal is DD.
-
Hi Everyone! I filed with H&R Block on 01/12/17. I was allowed to file my federal but State is still sitting there. They haven’t emailed me yet to say I can go ahead and e-file my state return. Anyone else having a problem or is this an H&R Block problem ?
-
Figures ms is at bottom of the list Lol… anyones return still pending ?
-
3rd yr early
Me either. But looking over my past returns I never get a deposit before mid to late February.
-
Keshia
I still haven’t been accepted
-
Anonymous
Well, hopefully this year moves faster than last year. When did you file/get accepted?
-

Has anyone from the Mississippi area been accepted for their efile of State Tax Refnd? Mine is still showing pending for a while now.

I eFiled through TurboTax on February 12… so almost 9 months ago now. It shows everything “Accepted” and I got my federal refund in the usual time frame. I found myself going through the “where’s my refund” tracker on the MS DOR website over and over from then until the 90 day mark and beyond Eventually I kind of wrote it off and figure I’d get the refund eventually or not but whatever. (Basically, I’d have a happy $600 surprise if it ever did come in, but I didn’t have time to fool with it anymore. I figure the state is counting on a lot of people not wanting to jump through hoops to get in touch with anyone at the DOR.) Finally had some time today to really sit down with all my ducks in a row and chew some people out… called 601-923-9089 (found the number on this thread) and almost immediately go through to someone. I told her it had been nearly 9 months since I filed and I needed to get my refund NOW. She asked for my social and put me on hold for less than a minute. Then, she came back on and said to allow 7-10 days for the refund to post to my account. I was shocked… I asked if it would be direct deposited still into the originally specified account, and she said it would. We shall see… are they really just holding money until they get a call?!? WORST. STATE. EVER.

I sent in electronically our state taxes January 25, 2015, and as of July 12, 2015, we have still not received our refund. All calls to the state are the stupid electronic voice, and just state our return is under review. What’s up with this?
-

I sent my return in the first week of February. We had to mail it in along with copies of my federal return, because we file multiple states, and there is some rule about that, not sure, my accountant tells me. We sent the full federal return, all the w-2’s, etc. We do not live in MS, just one of the contract companies is based out of MS, so it wasn’t much income, small refund owed of $265. I called today and was told they needed a copy of the w-2 for the MS company……… even though we went that to them. This was NOT an electronic filing. So I sent it via email anyway and was told it was attached to the account now. So it’s been sitting there for FIVE months? They needed a w-2 that was already sent to them? For a small refund? This is ridiculous.

Has anyone received their refund for 2014 or are they still waiting? I called all the numbers – still under review – filed on the 6 of Feb!! Any ideas?

Mississippians,
Does anyone else still not have their 2014 return as of MAY 16 2015? I’ve actually talked to people at the revenue dept that have told me that I was correct in my assertion that the state was jerking us around just to hold onto our dollars. You can’t make them do anything, so I suggest stop pre-paying your taxes, if you’re close enough to Louisiana (or any bordering state) buy your gas and alcohol and tobacco there. High schoolers and college students, learn early. You don’t want the state of Mississippi to have anything to do with your money- need proof, just read this board.

I filed my sons and it is still saying that it is being reviewed. This is the 1st year that it has not come in right behind the federal refund. What’s up?

Filed my return in late February. Finally was able to speak with someone at 601-923-7089 about 3 weeks ago. The nice lady said it was in process and they needed to verify my husband’s income with his employer. She asked for a phone number which I provided…..still nothing. No one has called to verify anything. This is ridiculous.

My refund was e-filed on march 8th. Still processing. Come on it’s not that big of a refund but it is MINE and I want it. This absolutely ridiculous.
-
Mike
Mailed my return in mid-March. Almost five months later I have not received my refund. I have called the automated line at least 20 times and it always says the return “has not processed” and “no other information is available.” What does this mean? Anyone else having this issue?
-
C Clark
At least I see that I am not alone.
I filed my return in February as well and my status continues to say “received, under review” i tried to call today to speak to a human and i was routed back to the automated line.
i am going to try the number posted above and press “0” to see if I get some movement. this is beyond ridiculous!
-
C Clark
oh dear God! I just called the number, pressed “0” and it told me that all representatives are busy at this time….it doesn’t give you an option to hold, it tells you to call back later or go to the website and it disconnects you!!!
i am totally convinced it is some sort of scam, this is outrageous!

I filed my return through H&R Block in early March. The MS web site showed my claim has been ‘under review’ for over 90 days. I just called 601-923-7089 and hit 0. It took a very nice lady 30 minutes to research and tell me that my large refund still being reviewed.

I filed my return and it was accepted on 2/2/14. I was entitled to a $5300 refund. When I called to check on the status a couple of weeks after it was accepted, the system kept saying it was being reviewed. 90 days later, I got a letter saying they needed more information. I sent them receipts, cancelled checks, travel logs, expense trackers, etc. They were overnighted. Now, 200 days after initial acceptance, I call to check on the status of my refund. It said that my return has finished processing and no refund is due. I then call to talk to a person. They informed me that not only do I not get my large refund but I now owe them almost $4000. The lady who was reviewing said that she did not accept any of my deductions even though they had receipts to back up each and every one. I am so angry at this point. Do any of you know of any lawyers or anything I can do about this? When I told the lady I was getting a lawyer, she told me “The State of Mississippi is sovereign.” This is ridiculous.
-
Renee Cooper
WOOHOO! Ok people, I called 601-923-7089, computer gives you a list of options, choose 0. This first time I chose 0 it rang and rang. I called back and chose 0 and a nice lady answered. I told her I had efiled with Tax Act the first of Feb. 2014 and it still says processing. She asked for my social, I heard her keying for a few, then she came back on and said all looked find and that I should get my refund shortly. OMGOSH! I wish I had know about this “glitch” that Tax Act has had all along. But all is good now. Hopefully I will see my refund in my account soon. Have a great day and good luck.
-
Melissa
Defiled in February, and it was accepted, but never showed on the MS site. I called and they said it was under review for 90 days, so more than 4 months later, I called again and the woman finally says they’ve finished reviewing and I should get it in the next week or two. I’ll believe it when I see it. Now the website says its under review instead of not there at all. I filed almost 5 months ago. Absurd.
-
Danny
I filed on Feb 2 Accepted,I called the number and was told that its under review,Then called back a few days ago and told they are waiting on info from my employer, asked if I could help they said no just waiting to hear back from employer,I think its all a scam on the part of Mississippi we need to vote theses people out of power thats the only control we have,This is an abuse of power to the extreme.

Irritated Coast Gal
I efiled in April for a DD; my refund is still “being processed”. I have tried the numbers posted here to check the status, get nothing but an automated bunch of horse manure. Like the majority of you on this thread, I am getting pretty frustrated. Any other suggestions?

My refund was accepted back in January and is STILL being processed! That is our great state at work. Do everything electronically to cut down on paperwork and it takes 10x longer…. Gimme a break!

Finally some change in status
Let’s see, I filed in the beginning of Feb.Your refund was processed on 6/12/2014. Please allow at least 2 weeks to receive a paper refund check, or 7 to 10 days to receive your refund by direct deposit. If after that time you haven’t received your check or direct deposit, please wait an additional 30 days. After that time, write and request a tracer for the refund. Include your name, social security number, correct address, tax year of the return and your signature.
Mail to:Mississippi Department of Revenue
P.O. Box 1033
Jackson, MS 39215-1033Please allow 8 to 10 weeks for processing the tracer request.
So I have to wait 7-10 days for direct deposit which sounds ridiculous then if it doesn’t come I have to wait another 30 days before I can file a tracer request and then have to wait 8-10 weeks for that to happen.
They sure make it hard for you to receive YOUR money. -
Virginia F. McMullen
checking the status of my income tax…you all accepted the last of January.

Does anyone know if there is a way to report these people. By these people, I mean The Department of Revenue. I’ve been waiting two and a half months on my taxes and still don’t have them. Called this past Friday and the lady I spoke with sent an email to the proper department to tell them to begin processing my taxes. I checked the status today and it’s still saying that it’s being reviewed. No one should have to send the next department an e-mail to tell them to do their job. And how long does it take to review someone’s taxes?!! It definitely shouldn’t takes as long as their making it take. If the federal government can get your return back to you in two weeks or less, why does it take MS months and months to do it. The federal government has more returns to get out than MS. I’m convinced that these people aren’t doing anything at work or are unorganized. Idk but I’m pissed off and I want my money. I would like to know where/how to report or place a complaint on them.
-
Brian
This is getting ridiculous mine was accepted on 2/5 still haven’t received.. Said it processed on 5/23 and now I checked again today and it now says it processed on 5/29. How can it reprocess ?!?! Mississippi is just jerking us around playing with our money. I’m so glad I moved so I never have to deal with this ridiculous state tax again . Next week it will probably say it processed for a third time on a third different date.
-

I am still waiting on my refund as well as 2 friends which 1 of them filed back in Jan!

Well still waiting accepted end of January sent in all required documents and still have to wait up to another 90 days!!!!! The rep said yes ma’am they just said will complete within 90 days of date paperwork received.

I am beyond pissed. the first time I called I was told my return went into review feb 4 and to call back in 2 weeks if I didn’t have my refund. 2 weeks passed so I called back. the rep told me I should have been got my refund because they posted it feb 4 but they didn’t send it out. told me if I didnt get it within 1 week to call back. called back last Thursday may 8, and was told it was in review and to call back if I had not seen it in one week. this is the shocker, I called back today and was told it was pulled for random review and guess what? MY REVIEW HAS NOT EVEN STARTED YET. Basically ny refund has been sitting up untouched since Feb 4. I couldn’t do anything but cry. this hurts to be lied to and jerked around.
-
This is dumb
The state has the money to pay you back. They hold all this money in high interest accounts for as long as they can to make more money at your expense.
-
William Childress
Where is my state refund it said 90 days it has been 97 days please respond need our money.received February 5.2014 is in review if there was a mistake I can help

George
Amber,
They told you 90 BUSINESS days? Oh hell no. It states to “allow 90 days” on their website, not “allow 90 business days”. If they try to give me that bullshit, I’m gonna raise some hell. I’d like to see how long it took one of our asses to get into trouble if on April 15 (tax day), we told the state of MS to give us 90 business days to pay them. This lopsided possession of power is ridiculous, there’s literally no consequences on them, they have all the power concerning our refunds and they know it.
-
Karen
Amber,
Here’s what happens if you are 1 day late…. they charge you 100.00 minimum. My son was 1 day late b/c he was sure he’d get a refund – always has – so if you are late and get a refund they don’t care but if you are late and you OWE??? well, we found out he owed 5 bucks… yep 5 bucks… his penalty was 50 cents PLUS 100.00 b/c you are not allowed to send them less than 100 bucks. So – for owing 5 bucks bc THEIR calculations were wrong on his w/holding. He’s a single 20 yr old kid – if there’s not enough w/holding that is THEIR BAD. So he had to write them a 105.50 check. They make me so mad. But, we can wait 90 to 180 days for our money. sure… go ahead and earn that interest.
-
Nikki
Mine was accepted on 2/5 like so many others I’ve just skimmed through!! Was this just the random day they chose to review everybody?
-
George
Nikki, they accepted on 2/5 and they sent your refund through on 04/29. On 05/05/2014 (less than a week from now) they would’ve hit the 90 day time limit that they have to complete your review. I’m convinced Mississippi just wants to hang onto the money for as long as they possibly can, the state is dirt poor. They just give you the run around over at the DOR until the 90 days approaches, then they’re forced to pay you. I filed on 02/12, meaning 05/12 will be at the 90 day mark. I bet you my return goes through by next week, proving my theory on why it’s taking so long. Figures someone has to force them to give you your money, they never would otherwise.

I’ve been waiting over a month for my return. When I sent a message on the online contact form, the response was:
You did not include your SS number in the message. The refund line number is 601-923-7801.
First of all, why the heck would I write my SS number in an e-mail?!!!!!!!!!! Secondly, the automated system isn’t telling me any more information than the website tracker is tell me!!!!!!!!!!! I went back to college full-time in January so I’m not working. I need my refund and their playing with my money!!
-
Dean
After months of waiting finally getting refund thanks to the info you have reported here. Phone call works.
-
Amber
Accepted on 2/5. Have been processing/in review ever since. Called 601-923-7089 and talked to a representative. Was told my return was stuck in the review process but he wasn’t sure why. I asked if he could find out what was going on and was given the response his hands were tied until the 90th day. Was also told the 90 days were business days and they have until 6/11 to be within that 90 day time frame. Maybe I’ll have it by the 4th of July. I’m not hopeful at this point.

Just an update, I filed with turbo tax, 1/29 federal accepted on 1/31. Mississippi accepted 2/5. Federal direct deposited with 2 weeks. Mississippi web site said not received…..for months. I kept calling the automated number, and no record. I finally called the direct number and of course it was being reviewed.. on 4/11 i called 601-923 7089. pressed 0. She said it was being processed it shouldn’t be too much longer. Today I checked the website and all of a sudden its been processed. should have my dd 7 -10 days. Hope this helps someone.
-
Earl
I just called the automated line, too. It stated that mine was processed on 4/15. Not sure why it took 2 months to process.
-
Ronnie
This is some BS. I filed through H&R Block on 02/12 and STILL haven’t received my MS tax refund. My federal refund was direct deposited within about 2 weeks, but nothing from MS! Getting the same crap as the rest of the people on here about my return being “reviewed”. How long does it take to review the damn thing? I paid X amount of dollars in state tax, you owe me X amount of money. It’s not a multiple day procedure, I can’t even imagine it taking more than 5-10 minutes to “review”. So obviously by “review” they mean it’s sitting in a box with a bunch of other tax returns until they get to it.
They have absolutely no problem collecting the tax money from you, and they demand that you pay it to them immediately. But when it comes time for them to return some of your money, they take as long as they want. There really needs to be some sort of regulations placed on states to force them to complete processing within X number of days. I agree with Tracy that the reason for this is because the state of Mississippi is poor as hell and wants to hang onto your money for as long as possible.

Update 04/23/2014: I emailed the MS Department of Revenue at the link on their website, explaining that it’d been over 2 months since I filed my return and that it was still under review, asked them how much longer the review process would take. I got a response about 3 days later saying that my return was taking a long time to process, and to call (601)923-7089 to speak with someone.
Called and spoke with Sharon at the MS DOR and she told me that she wasn’t sure why the process was taking so long, but told me that she sent an email to someone within the DOR to review my return. She told me that this would get my return reviewed ASAP and that I should be hearing something or having my refund processed very soon.
Just thought I’d put this on here in case it helps anyone. Just as a side note, I’m pretty sure she only did this for me because it had been over 8 weeks since I filed. When I called the previous week, I was just told to call back next week. Almost as if the lady knew that they wouldn’t do anything until it had been 8 weeks or longer. I’ll let you all know when I receive my refund.

Update 05/13/2014. Final update.
I called the DOR one week ago and spoke to someone on the phone. I explained that it was getting close to 90 days and I still hadn’t received my refund. The lady on the phone had me on hold (but I could still hear her typing) for about 10 minutes, and then came back on and said that she’d done something and that my refund had completed review and would be available in 10-14 business days. (Funny how their “hands are tied” and they “can’t do anything” until they have to meet the 90 day requirement, anyways.)
So I checked again on the DOR website on 05/12 and saw that it still said that my refund was being reviewed. I was beyond pissed off at this point, as it had already been 5 days since I was told that it was completed. I called into the DOR and the lady on the phone told me that my refund **HAD NOT** completed review, and to call back in 2 weeks. So I’m furious by this point because they have apparently lied to me, and it’s officially been 90 days since I submitted the return. I sent an email with a few choice words, demanding that they let me speak to a supervisor because I was not going to tolerate being lied to and given the run around. The next day (today, 05/13) I checked the website and it says that my return has been processed on 05/12 and will be deposited into 7-10 days.
Summary: I submitted on 02/12, and it completed review on 05/12. Exactly 90 days later. Which is what I’ve been saying all along, they just want to hang on to our money for as long as they can until they’re forced to give it to you. Get prepared to wait the full 90 days to receive your return, especially if it’s a larger return.
Hopefully all of this information has helped someone. Take care!

Update***
I had filed with taxact and it said that my taxes were accepted 2/5/14, so I have been checking periodically on the status and had received the same message every time. On 4/4/14 when trying to sign on to TAP I must have typed in the wrong information so it locked me out and it gave me a number to call to talk to someone to unlock me. While on the phone with the lady I asked her if she could tell me why has it taken so long and she gave me the same old spill about you have been selected for review, blah blah blah it may take up to 90 days to process. Well later on that day I called the automated number and it says your refund was processed on 4/4 please allow 4-8 weeks for a check and 7-10 days for direct deposit. Today, 4/10 I received a text message that says your state refund has been sent to your account and should be available within 1-5 days. So I’m not sure if it was because I called or it was a coincidence that it happened to be processed the same day I called.
-
David
I e-filed my taxes via TaxAct and it shows them being received on 02/05/14. Ever since that date I’ve been receiving the same message that my taxes are being processed/reviewed. I have sent an email via the Mississippi website contact form and received a “canned” response about the 90 days. Could my return be one of the TaxAct glitches? If so what number do I need to call and what information will I need? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
-
April
Ok guys I have answers! I finally got someone on the phone at the State DOR to help me. Apparently, if you efiled with TaxAct this year, there is a glitch in the system and while it sent your return to the state, the states computers are just holding it instead of processing it. It didn’t do it to everyone she said and they’re only able to catch those who call. All she had to do was hit a button and now mine is processing right after sitting there since 2/5. I called the automated number this morning and there is finally a change in my refund status. Hope this helps you!
-
Renee COoper
April, what number did you call to get someone to hit that button. I did mine thru Taxact, it was accepted on Feb. 6, 2014 and all it says is processing. Its been over 4 months now. I don’t get it!!!
-
Earl
Mine was accepted on 2/15. The website shows that the MS AGI and SSN do not match. I emailed MS and got a poorly worded response: “your refund have not complete process”. Still nothing from the website.
-
Dave
Update!
I was accepted on 2/5 and have had the “wait 90 days’ message for a couple months now. Today I’ve got better news:
Your refund was processed on 4/1/2014.
-
amy robertson
It doesn’t make since the way they do our money as if to say we will send it when we are ready. and the funny thing is you can’t talk to a live rep.
-
Celia Rayburn
I have the same response as Aaron, and I thought that was bull, because Tax Act online says it was processed and accepted. I emailed someone just to make sure it was not in limbo, and the only response I got was , “Your return is being reviewed, and it is taken longer to complete processing.” Wahh
-
LaKeisha
Mine was accepted 2/5 also. I’ve done everything I could to find out here my money is. Emailed them and someone replied and said it was in review. It confused me for me to be given that response when I hadn’t provided the information needed to look up my personal taxes. MS is full of it and I never want to work in this state again. Then when I try to create an account to see exactly what process they are in the site tells me my info is wrong…b…s..
-
Monica
I was accepted on the 5th. Still saying not processed. Was told I WS in review. I filed bankruptcy last year. Think that may be reason. But they never told me my taxes would be held.
-
Tracy
The reason they haven’t paid them is because the state is broke and does not have the money to pay out the refunds. We are all in the same boat. It is BS!! They have 90 days to process it but they want their money yesterday if you owe it…
-
Aaron
I am having the same issues as Dave “Your return was received and is being reviewed. If additional information is needed, you will be contacted by mail. Please allow 90 days for your return to complete processing.” How ridiculous. They really need to get it together.
-
Emma
I e-filed on 2/1, was accepted same day but still waiting. I haven’t called yet but their website won’t allow me to access anything.. Just says my session has expired as soon as I click on anything?
-
Lori
I used TaxACT, and they show state was accepted on 2/7. On MS website, it says:
“Your return has not processed. If your return was mailed, please allow 4 to 8 weeks for your return to process. If your return was electronically filed and its been more than 7 days, we did not receive your return. Please allow an additional 15 days before calling. No other information is available from any Department of Revenue employee.”
How can they say they did not receive the return, and how long is this going to take? I have never had a problem with e-filing MS state taxes.
-
Dave
I was accepted on 2/5 but have been showing the following for a couple weeks with no change:
Your return was received and is being reviewed. If additional information is needed, you will be contacted by mail. Please allow 90 days for your return to complete processing.
I guess I’ve got a long wait ahead of me!
-
April
Same here. Accepted 2/5 and still waiting. Glad to know I’m not the only one
-
Missy2014
My MS was also accepted on 2/5 and its still showing pending,. When i call the info line is says that if you have electronically filed we have not received your return. I received a text message that said it had been accepted on Feb 5th and also when I go to my taxact account it says it was accepted the same day.
-
Fleming2014
I was accepted by MS on 2/5 and am still showing pending.
