      Here’s my story…

I filed and was accepted on 2/20. I was at one bar with Tax Topic 152 for four days. On 2/24, I woke up to no bars & missing my refund amount with the message of “Your refund is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.”

So, based off everything I have read on here, I called the ID Verify Line just in case I did get thrown into that whole mess and they said that the IRS hadn’t even started to process my return yet so there would be no way that I could be picked for that yet… it had only been four days since my return was accepted.

I did move since last year so my address has changed. When I try to login to the transcript site, I can get through the username and password screens and then it goes to another screen that says its experiencing technical problems and to try again later. I can use my old address to access to order prior year return and account transcripts by mail but it still says “we have no information for the tax year of 2016”.

I’m wondering if when they do process my return if it will update to our new address or if I will have to re-register to the transcript site (I’ve tried doing that as well and it still gives me the technical problem message.)

Hopefully one of you are in the same boat as I am. Idk if I’m convinced that they are reviewing my return because four days is awfully fast to be picked. Some people say there is a difference in the messages of “Your refund IS being processed” and “Your refund IS STILL being processed” but Idk. Maybe someone can shed some light on it for me. Maybe I should call? I would rather wait until my 21 days is up but I’m like everyone else on here… super impatient and I want my money! Lol.

@concerned I was married 20 years ago. The very first year of filing taxes with my husband, my return would only be accepted using both my maiden name and married name. We used the same accountant all these years and he just filed that way year after year even though I had changed my name with the SSA right after we were married. He retired and I did my own taxes this year. I completely forgot since I use my maiden name for nothing. The system noticed the change and it was kicked out. Once I got to the right person it was easily fixed within minutes but now I’m still waiting.

Sharon – did you get married last year (2016) and change your name then? Or was the system picking up your maiden name from years ago?

UPDATE: I broke down and called the IRS. The lady I talked to was fairly nice and she said that everything looked fine and just that I would need to wait the normal 21 days to process.

That was two days ago. Still getting same message.

This is pretty much what happened with mine. Filed and accepted 2/3. 2/8 lost bars with just the message. I called and was told it didn’t even process yet, which I thought okay but why did the status bar go away. I waited a week and called again, they said it still didn’t process, told me to wait another week. I didn’t. I called a tax advocate who told me good thing I called because my return is unpostable, meaning because of an error it will not post to the master system to even get processed. It sits in the error dept while they investigate what the error is and try to fix it ( in my case it was that the system was picking up my maiden name instead of my married name) they were able to confirm that my married name matched my SS # and said it was fixed on 2/15 but could take 6-8 weeks for refund. I’m still waiting. I still can’t order either transcript so I have no idea if it even made it back into the system yet. I’m going to bet for you it’s your new address. I’d try to call and see if you can get a helpful person, if not try an advocate. The advocate told me it could sit in the errors dept for 6 weeks and then you have the wait time of 6-8 weeks after that. Now they told me it should be shorter, but we shall see. Almost 2 weeks now. Totally frustrating because my name is my name. Their error not mine.😡 Good luck.

The errors could be anything really. Missing forms, maybe even a new address could have set off the error. Most big updates are Wed and Sat mornings then smaller updates on the other days. Im a weekly so I know I will only update on Saturday mornings. Daily people can update pretty much anyday.

Thank you Kim, I appreciate the input. What kind of errors could there be, exactly? I filed through Turbo Tax and they said everything looked good to go…

Do you know when the big updates are? Some say its Sat/Sun nights, some say Mon nights… and when you say I am probably a daily, does that mean it could update any/every day? I’m trying to search through here to get all the answers without posting and asking, lol.

I would check my prior year transcripts but I can view them on the website. I actually tried to call the transcript line just a min ago and they said they were having more technical problems…. Seems to me like they need to get new IT people, lol!

From what Ive seen, the still processing message comes because of an error which can be for many different reasons. Basically, the computer will work out the errors but if it cant then it needs to be manually reviewed and then a letter will get sent out if needed. Once everything is good to go again, then this message will update to the generic “we have received your return and it is being processed.” Then usually a DDD will come with the next update.

Since your WMR updated to this message on a Friday, it means you are probably a daily so this process could go rather quick for you unless you do need wait for a letter.
