METABANK—EPS—IRS—-FAIL——BLUNDER

:( You don’t have to go any further then the home page and a big banner pops up telling you the IRS Accidentally sent out a bunch of checks to bank accounts that don’t exist and EPS (MetaBank) says there’s nothing they can do except send it back.

So this is the boat I’m in, I was up at 7a.m. Yesterday On the portal, put in all my info, and see that my check was dd today To my 2019 tax return bank account ( The 3rd party account that MetaBank, I received RAL and had fees taken out of refund and picked up my tax refund check at local tax office). The account number it was deposited in showed xxxxxx- 3 digits of SS# – and the number 1 (Ex. XXXXXX0001). Now the first time I logged into the portal I had to supply – SSN, DOB, Street Address, ZIP Code. It took me straight to the status page showing DD of 4/15/200 and the Account it was sent to. I never had the option to update my DD info, or any other info for that matter. Those were the only 2 pages I could Access, period. I knew in advanced that I was going to have to update my DD to my own personal bank account and had every intention on doing it yesterday at 7 a.m. almost as soon as the portal opened…. But I didn’t even get the opportunity because the IRS “inadvertently” sent them out to EPS (MetaBank)…. if the IRS is admitting that they blundered (According to EPS) I hope take us that didn’t even get the chance to update the DD info Into consideration when they send out the next batch, or maybe expedite the checks instead of having to wait 5-20 weeks for them to come in the mail because of their mistakes…. I’m not complaint or ranting (sorry if it sounds that way) I just needed to share my situation and opinion in case anyone else is in the same boat, and feels this way also. Also I wanted to pass along the information from EPS so others would know. We’re in this together, Just have faith.
