My husband and I filed jointly and used Chime for the first time this year. He is the primary on taxes but it’s my Chime account, will they reject? I have had this situation in the past with another bank but they still accepted our return since the account was in one of our names.

Email chime support about the issue and they will fix it if you show your 1040 and both state licenses or I.D. they will release funds into your chime. But you must do this within 24 hours of your refund sending to chime

@chimeuser my DDD was 2/20. By 2/18 chime had rec’d the deposit from SBTPG. I saw that on SBTPG site. Chime had no record of it. I called SBTPG on 2/21 and they confirmed. In 2/21 my husband also got an email from Chime stating it was returned to SBTPG.

@chimer how did you find out that it was rejected?

Y’all. It’s going to be rejected. Mine was. I’m sorry for the bad news. Exactly the same thing I did. I’m listed first – it’s my husbands chime account. There’s nothing at all you can do except wait for the paper check.

Houston here and turbo tax paid already got through to a rep after waiting 35 minutes because I filed w/husband and he’s the primary but it’s my chime account so I heard it will be rejected. The representative I just spoke with said it won’t be as long as my name is listed on the return? Does anyone know anything about this because I called a few days ago and a different rep. Said it would definitely be rejected

according to Chime as long as your name is the primary on the joint return there is no issue just use the chat feature on the app and verify

Fortunate for me there is a large group.of Chime users that filed jointly and received emails from Chime requesting they send screenshots of the joint return and both filers IDs. According to others they had to do this for both state and federal but funds were released in a couple hours. Several showed screenshots of their emails also. Quite a few also stated that received without having to verify so I’m optimistic and confident that we will receive. Thank God for forums and FB groups. Lol

It’s the same with ALL cards and banks. It has to have primary’s name. It’s been that way forever.

Yes it WILL reject.
Chimes website very clearly states they will reject any return if the primary filer and name on the account don’t match. I highly recommend you get ahold of them and have the name changed ASAP. They won’t make an exception. -

Unfortunately I had a situation with chime a couple of years ago. Maybe they updated their policy but my wife was primary and I was as secondary and they rejected it.
After that my wife and I opened a joint bank account.

No, it isn’t on the IRS. It cannot be rerouted either. Well, I hope you get a response here from someone familiar w Chime. If you don’t receive it though you will need to call IRS. Make sure they have your address correct. IF and only “if” Chime declines wire transfer. I hope it works out for you, yw!

I’ve contacted support but it isn’t live and you have to wait for them to email you back. It’s not on IRS, it depends if bank will let it go through I know that much. I just was hoping to hear from someone who has had a similar experience. It wasn’t me that you responded to before but I appreciate you responding here.

Not sure if live agents are available? That would be my first move. If they tell you not likely. Contact IRS. I believe I replied this on another post to you? If it wasn’t you, my apologies. This site is great, but in your case (uncertainty if/where money will go), it’s best to get a definitive answer. As I posted before, if the money is rejected, it will be sent back to IRS, after which you’ll be mailed a check. Which will take time transporting Refund from dd to paper.
