Cass ,
I’m with u ! We filed on 1/30 . Accepted within and hour . Bars left Wednesday over night . Now we have topic 152 , no bars , no refund amount 😕 We have never had this happen before ? No letters yet ? Some people say it’s good if u have the refund amount still on side ? So frustrating ! We didn’t call the IRS . I don’t want to make anyone mad ! Lol we might get out back further !!!!!

Why doesn’t the IRS put something up explaining the missing bars? It’s so stressful and causes so much work on their end when we call. It’s mind boggling to me.

Accepted 1-20-17 had one bar for almost a week, now no bars for 4 days. Tax topic 152 no refund amount shown just says being processed?? I’m starting to worry. Had a new baby but none of the tax credit holds or eic credit.

The path act message would on pertain to those filers before the 2/1. The normal processing time frame is 8 to 14 days, which falls near or after 2/15. No need for the path act message in that case. Wouldn’t you think? Do I wouldn’t be all upset and worried much.

January 31, 2017 at 4:53 pm #4155972Not So Patient
I filed on 1/5, accepted on 1/12. Had the same 1 orange bar then the PATH message about the 15th showed up a few days ago. I have all of my transcripts. Claiming both child credits. My transcript shows processing date 2/13/17, cycle 20170405. I looked at last years transcripts, last year it stated my processing date was 2/22/16, cycle 20160505. I received my refund last year on 2/10. 12 days before the processing date. My fiance filed and accepted 1/20. He doesn’t check transcripts or WMR, hes just patient and waits. He claimed the child credit also, last night his account was showing it pending for deposit on 2/1 into his credit union bank account. NO BULLSHIT! I’m with BBT, they never post anything early and I don’t have anything pending. So we looked at his transcripts from 2016, he also had a processing date of 2/22 and received on 2/10, this years showed process date 2/13 but now pending for deposit 2/1, again 12 days difference. Maybe there is something to the 12 days thing. I haven’t had anyone else’s to compare this to, but maybe its worth a look for some of y’all too. As for my SC state taxes, accepted but no movement. Even the state website says they do not have refund in process at this time. But given SC’s backwoods ways, I never get an update on their website until AFTER I’ve received my state refund.

I have been through this last year and now this year. Both years a week after filing my bars disappeared. Last year i had code 9001 and had to verify my identity….this year i have no error code or tax topic. It usually means nothing good if your bars go missing. Just trying to provide information from experience. It took me another 2 months to get my return last year after verifying my identity. Who knows what it will be this year. They wont talk to you till 21 days since you filed. Most are very rude and will basically hang up on you if it hasn’t been 21 days. Usually if your bars have gone missing you are pulled for further review or you have to verify your identity.

This happened to me last year and it is happening again. Last year I had no idea what was going on I was in a panic. So I was told to wait the 21 days from the time my refund was accepted and call the IRS. When I called them they gave me a number to the Tax Payer Protection program (TPP). I called them and was asked was I told my identity was stolen or anything like that the only information that I could give them is that my employer offered identity protection to all employees because our system was hacked. For the TPP I had to only give them information that I should only know from my prior year return and my new information {they had to make sure it was me} in less then a week later I looked and had 3 bars and my refund was already in my account.

From all I read from ppl within topic most had a similar situation either name change, address change or filed super early. I had all three and have the same message. I got accepted the 13th so if I don’t have anything movement wise I’m getting a tax advocate I’m not waiting till march for my refund

I got the same thing. I had one bar before and it changed to the same message. I have no changes from last year. Just the normal deductions. WMR kind of stinks this year more than normal, at least for me. Hoping to see a deposit date since I filed on 1/24 and was accepted the same day.

Well I woke up today and I have same issue. I do claim earned income credit so I’m hoping it’s nothing major and had to do with that. Last year was a mess with taxes. I had to do the identity check. Smh I got my return March 9th after being accepted January 14 . I am hoping it to see my return not long after the 15th. I am moving from Massachusettes to florida. My income tax refund is paying for this. I am a nervous wreck right now. Please let this be something minor.

Same thing happened to me last year…took about a week and then I logged in and saw deposit date. Mine was deposit around 2/6 last year despite my bars disappearing. This is the 2nd year with interesting deductions/credits (i.e. adoption). I do not have any EIC or 2nd Child Tax Credit.

Our bars disappeared this morning saying ” we received your return and it is being processed” that’s it. We got married this year so my last name changed not sure if that is why they disappeared…any thoughts?

I got that generic message in 2015. I can’t say exactly what that would mean for you, but, for me my return was pulled to be audited. I had filed in Feb of 2015 and did not receive my refund until April 2015. I had to get a tax advocate. Basically it was because I had a name change and the SSA office did not communicate this to the IRS. Anyways, I wish you luck. If you get letters in the mail from the IRS you can call and request a tax advocate.

If you lose bars and get the generic message, I usually find that the next update is one that includes a direct deposit date. This has happened to me EVERY SINGLE YEAR and I do not think it is indicative of a problem at all.
If you get a message saying No Info Available, it is often because you have checked too often in that day and you have been locked out. Check back the next day. Other than initial acceptance, which can come at any time of the day, updates are only done once per day, usually overnight, and so checking more than once a day is unnecessary.

I believe its just the WMR site having some technical issues. I remember from years past people on this board including myself had appearing and disappearing bars and for most of us it didn’t cause any delays.
-
January 22, 2017 at 2:54 pm #4151633Dee
I also filed early and I check WMR twice a day, the bar has disappeared on me several times, with a message no info available must wait 24 hours after being accepted blah blah blah, but when I log back in at other times the bar is there.
I have heard all different explaination for why early files bars disappear, from pulled for audit to WMR site overload traffic. I believe it has something to do with test batches – does anyone here know for sure? -
January 22, 2017 at 11:48 am #4151624Nimo3030
It could also just be there not letting EIC returns go threw or be paid til Feb 15 2017 so you eventually no we just have a little more wait
-
January 22, 2017 at 11:45 am #4151623Nimo3030
I was accepted on the 01/17/2017 and I still have one bar stated being process I’ve had my run in with irs previous years still waiting for 2012 and when you lose bars its most likely being flagged by irs ether for idenity theft verification or for other reason for me it did that for 2013 2014 and last year after my 21 days I just applied for Taxes Advocate Service
-
January 22, 2017 at 11:41 am #4151622
That has happened to me EVERY YEAR. It will return, and then you will get a refund date. Nothing to be concerned about.
