    …but please…respectfully!

    I made an error and HAD been (regretfully, but not intentionally) thinking I had gotten my refund and FILED w/ EIC.

    I was wrong. After investigating, only got the CTC but NOT the ACTC (the second part of CTC).

    I understand now (from what I read and learned and from other contributors) that only those who filed the following will be effected accordingly (I am NOT claiming this to be truth…I may be wrong but that’s why I wanted to start the discussion):

    If you filed with EIC – refunds will be after 02/15

    If you filed with EIC, CTC and ACTC – refunds will be after 02/15

    If you filed with CTC and ACTC – it may depend. This is the info (and it was the best at describing the difference than any other site I found): The child tax credit (CTC) provides a credit of up to $1,000 per child under age 17. If the CTC exceeds taxes owed, families may receive some or all of the credit AS a refund, known as the additional child tax credit (ACTC) or refundable CTC.

    If you filed ONLY CTC (like me) – you WON’T be affected (my refund dropped on 01/30 at 6:30 p.m. PST).

    What I DON’T know is if can you file and have a ACTC and NOT CTC? I understand it to be directly linked BUT have seen people online stating they have ONLY EIC and ACTC (w/ no CTC). So perhaps some of you fine contributors can help!

    I’m doing this because of the false info I gave. And, because it seems on EVERY string at some point (no matter the title), this topic comes up.

      @Mrs Turner

      Based off my experiences and what I’m reading posted by others, you might be done processing but there isn’t any activity/update because you have one of the credits….

        @Kimikaze: Thank you!

        I still haven’t figured out why I got EIC last year (I have the EIC worksheet from last year that I looked at)…but not this year. I know it’s irrelevant and I’m NOT complaining :o) I just wondered if people might contribute who may know. When I looked at the IRS website…the best guess I came up with was it had to do with my income. Although, I’ve seen different amounts on different sites…that I can’t exceed “X” amount claiming HOH and claiming one dependent.

        Also, @Candy, if you look at my activity – I have gone back to every string I posted on and apologized.

          @Unicorn Kisses: Thank you for correcting yourself. It is an easy mistake to make and I know you weren’t doing it to intentionally get people worked up. PATH is still relatively new and until it came along I am sure there are a lot of people who didn’t even know or pay attention to what credits they were getting on their returns.

          @Candy that’s why I wanted to apologize and correct myself.
