Like a small lotto win, eh?! Lol. Was pursuing Reddit, lots of folks w 10k refund, 13k, saw another 18k and one said they’re expecting 20k. Eat your heart out😯 must be nice!

I mis-spoke, and it won’t allow me to edit.
The Ctc Act 2021 took an existing credit, and allowed half to be payed in advance (July-Dec 2021). The other half would now be claimed as you file. The Act also made this existing credit REFUNDABLE. Most don’t realize this. A refundable credit cannot be offset by other debt lines on the return. (ex: you drove for Uber, now you have to pay up) The credit prior to 2021 tax year was NOT refundable, so you never saw boost your return directly as cash.

              You should see..
              Unclaimed stimulus x1 child = $1400
              Unclaimed Ctc x1 child= $1500-1800
              Normal Ctc x3 children= $1500-1800 EACH
              Your usual return/other credits.
The Ctc is refundable, with “0” income, it’s cash on your return.

Take it and run, people. The Ctc 2021 made an already refundable credit doubled, and payed it half in advance. A refundable credit simply meaning if you claim “0” income, you get the full credit as cash (if it doesn’t offset with a debt line).

I get a large one each yr. I like getting a large check at the end (begining) of the yr. Lol. It will eventually come to an end as kids get older, start working themselves move out, finish school etc!

They shafted me on the child tax credit monthly payments on all four of my kids, which is whatever, but because of it this by far is the largest tax return I will ever see I’m sure… the amount makes me feel like I’ve robbed a bank or something… it’s a bit weird lol

@paradox. No he is 9, his dad claimed him last year and is deployed this year so I am claiming him. They also included in a $1400 stimulas that goes toward him.

                          Hello,
I have 1 child, recieved 1500. My refund is larger this year. As long as you were sure to include exact ctc amount on your return. You’re probably fine. I made less last year than the year prior. I was going to opt out in Dec, but as we know, the bill didn’t pass and I believe ctc was removed altogether? So opting out was no longer an option.

Good luck. And don’t worry too much, if nothing else you can amend later.

                          Paradox

Was one of your children born this year? If so then that child would qualify for 3600 instead of the old 3000, and they would qualify for the stimulus we received last year since they likely weren’t a part of that.
