      Just the facts…

There is a lot of information going around, most of it is rumor oh, it would be nice to have a place for people to get information that is fact not fiction.

      What we know…

      – Taxes are delayed this year for a variety of reasons.

      – EIC, and various other refunds, have been delayed to accommodate the new Obama mandated tax law designed to protect people’s identity.

      – Tax returns are being processed randomly this year. Unlike, in previous years, your return will NOT be processed in the order it was received.

      – WMR only updates once a day, commonly between the hours of 3:30 and 6am. WMR will, and does, become unavailable for “maintenance” throughout the day, but it rarely affects people’s DDD or updates.

      – Many people with matching acceptance dates are being approved at the same time, still some of those people with the same acceptance dates no nothing.

      – Choosing to call the IRS to check on your return, or choosing to check WMR multiple times (possibly even getting you locked out temporarily), will not trigger an audit or delay your return in any way.

      – Calling the IRS will not necessarily get you personal information about your own tax return, and will most likely result in canned answers read off a script

      What we think…

      – The vast majority of us will receive a DDD, if we haven’t received one already, in the update on Saturday morning.

      – Being that many people with the same acceptance day are being processed at the same time it is reasonable to assume the IRS is putting out approvals in batches.

      – A “STILL processing” msg is bad, an “IS processing” msg is good.

      – Many free and fee based services with their own tracking sites (i.e. TurboTax) has DDD information based on the date of which you filed with them and not based on any information provided by the IRS.

      – If you have not received a DDD, or code implying a letter is coming, by the 27th of February you should call and get a tax advocate.

      – Some people claim to have received their returns prior to WMR updating a DDD.

      What we don’t know…

      – No one knows, who has not already received the money in their hands, when their return is coming. Some of us have a good idea, based on projections from our bank, but no one knows the exact time or date. Someone in a previous post equated it to Jesus, and I think that pretty much summarizes it.

      Good Luck Everyone!!!

I really dont understand where this guys deal with kids lays… let’s put it this way since you dont seem to get it. It being the frustration and the amount of concerned taxpayers on here.

Let’s say you work all year and some guy takes a portion of your money you worked for each time you are paid and says “dont worry, come next year in February…I got you. I’ll let you know more closer to time..”

Well that time comes, you’ve fed your kids all year, paid your bills all year, yeah WIC paid for your babies formula that was $245 for 6 cans that lasts 4 weeks hopefully, but that time is here…

Call that man up that’s been taking your money for the last year and he says “oh yeah, I’ll update you on when your money is coming..”

But then he doesnt… so you kinda just wait around, talk to other workers about what he told them…then you finally just kindly check up on this website he gives you to track when he will give you this money and SINCE you have children that they are giving you a earned credit for you get a generic message instead of a actual date.

Then you get a date and that date comes… questions arise.

What the fuck does that have to do with you dude?

Yeah you might educate yourself in that year as well. We can all hope.

                  Jeff,
STILL processing does not imply an error or delay. I have the same message, as do hundreds of thousands of other people, and I verified there is nothing wrong with my return and it is being processed as usual. The same goes for most of the people who also have that message. It is just a coincidence for those who do have an error or are experiencing a true delay to have that message, because their return has likely been “accepted” for more than 21 days. The STILL processing message, as relayed to me by the IRS rep, goes into effect when a tax return has been processing for more than 21 days since your return was accepted. It is merely the next “step” after the “return being processed” message and means nothing, as long as you do not have an action needed message or code.

I’m sorry for your frustrations. STILL processing seems to imply everything from minor errors that self correct, to ID verification, to who knows. I would definitely take the time to call, or at least try to contact a tax advocate.

                      Good post.

though I check constantly, I’ve had to tell myself to let it go til next Wed (27th)

anything else is just causing myself unnecessary worry (and I go through that every year lol)

I heard that still processing can mean many things. And that this year is the default for the people who files in January and were sequenced wrong (not worked first) and that still only means they can no longer guarantee 21 days from acceptance?

Is this not true, should I really continue to stress out bbecause of the still processing. No letters, no codes, no change in refund amount…help?

The path act also made permanent many of the tax credits and deductions that a lot of you use every year, that were set to expire that year or soon after.
