Just letting you guys know. I filed on 01/29 was accepted the same day. I have EIC and Dependents. Have filed the same way since 2008 using turbo tax. Today I was advised my return was randomly selected to be “under review” it takes 60 days from the date the letter was sent to me for the review to be completed.
The representative could not tell me why it was under review. Also told me that no action was needed from me. And in the event they find something in their review I’d get another letter after the 60 Days. My letter was sent on the 20th I haven’t gotten it yet.
This has been a totally shitty tax year.

@ProudFatherOF1 honestly I believe you should call if you feel something fishy is going on. I file my taxes the same time each year and get my return the same time each year. I called when it was over the 21 day mark for me because the date had come and gone that I usually get my DD. It won’t hurt to reach out to find out.

@lexlo9091 But I just filed 2/21 and accepted same day lost bars last Saturday. So would it be too early for me to call or just wait and see what WMR say this coming Saturday?
-
March 3, 2020 at 12:54 am #4387745
Update continued: I finally got the letter they sent on Saturday AFTER I got a DDD. Keep calling and bugging the hell out of them so they can pull your return! I was told for days my return was processed and complete but my refund was just being held by the computer 🙄. I hope this helps!!
-
March 3, 2020 at 12:54 am #4387744
Update:: 60 days is a stalling technique. Some people have legit issues but most of us don’t. After 5 phone calls to the IRS last week I was told on Friday I have a DDD of 03/04. WMR updated on 2/29 and I just checked SBTPG and my fees have come out for TT.
-
February 27, 2020 at 12:59 am #4383889
They are telling mostly everyone to just wait the 60 days and the others have been chosen to do ID verify. The reps are completely unhelpful basically.

Any updates

February 26, 2020 at 7:24 am #4380918
Oh and should I mention that after putting me on a brief hold, she came back stuttering about that 60 days BS. I don’t believe it for one second. I think they are purposely holding refunds.
-
February 26, 2020 at 7:22 am #4380909
Just spoke to a Harrison today at 7:05am and they are still giving me the same crap. It is being processed but has been pulled for an additional review…
I asked if it’s ID verify or maybe the numbers were off, but nope! Did not get an answer. Just wait the 60 days. Is this a conspiracy? -

@2nrc told me a letter was mailed on Feb 21. Said I was in exams. Education credit
-
February 25, 2020 at 10:38 pm #4379313
@focused
My as of date has been stuck at 2/17 also with no updates. I called today and they said under review for income verification and I should receive a letter this week with instructions. I haven’t received anything from IRS and I’m worried they won’t even send me notice of what I need to do for a few weeks if ever. I filled and was accepted 1/27 using TT

It seems to me that the people who are claiming EITC are getting the 4464c letters stating our taxes are “under review”… it’s super suspect.

Lots of ppl with wage reviews because of issues verifying thier employers info.I dont understand it.Im just going to let it play out and not stress over it. It will work itself out eventually

@Jeremy
Yep, something is weird cause my co-worker said he got his DDD. Employer sends W2 for all of us at the same time at my job. -
February 25, 2020 at 6:11 pm #4378216Jeremy
Almost the end of February and my boss said it was efiled jan 20t to them. How in the world would it not be updated by now. But there seems to be lots of ppl who are going through this. Must be some type of delay or something going on.

My local office is closed till the morning but I will call them then. Lady earlier told me they are just behind and havent updated yet.

@jeremy
Call local office and get their fax number and fax it to them with cover later FAST before the examiner at IRS tried to push the return thru again. There’s a system they use that matches with SSA. -
February 25, 2020 at 5:56 pm #4378164Jeremy
@pinkpanther
I just talked to the ssa too. They said it should be showing up if it was recieved. I should have asked about faxing mine to them. She didnt mention anything about it -
February 25, 2020 at 5:30 pm #4378082PinkPather
I was told the same about wages not reported by employer. Long story short, I just got off the phone with local SSA office and they gave me fax number to send them copy of my w2 and they will enter it as reported. Hopefully this will be somewhat of a fix, my employer adamantly stated he sent everything he reported all this in January for all employees as he has always done for many years.
-
February 25, 2020 at 4:55 pm #4377939Target
[f you suspect your employer isn’t reporting your wages and withholding to the IRS, you must make a formal report. Call 1-800-829-1040 to report the problem to the IRS. Also, file your taxes anyway with the information you have.]
@Mike ZNot sure if this will help as I’m not abreast your complete situation. But I so hope you get all this sorted.
-
February 25, 2020 at 4:43 pm #4377901Target
Could you reach HR? Also, this here is a last resort, but you could report your boss for this. Did they not submit your W2 to ssa?
-
February 25, 2020 at 4:39 pm #4377888Mike Z
The employer is a very stubborn french Canadian who is extremely difficult to communicate with. I haven’t been able to contact him since the season ended in the beginning of December. He goes on hunting expeditions for weeks at a time.
-
February 25, 2020 at 4:12 pm #4377801Target
@Mike Z, you don’t have to wait. Call your employer.
-
February 25, 2020 at 4:05 pm #4377783Mike Z
Just spoke with a lady who said my employer hasn’t submitted my wages. Weird that others who work for the same company have already received their returns. I guess I just wait.

@Halpert, please accept my apology for that response. I am not here to do that. And felt compelled to offer an apology asap!. Life’s too short, I’d rather spend it in a positive way.
I truly am sorry! I hope everything is well for/w you!

@Hal, I’d really love to reveal what that lil bit of money will be joining in my Chase savings and TD Ameritrade accounts, but I’d be bragging. Yet, your words suggest I am desperate and hurting. Lol. Though I empathize w the many who are. 3 jobs, self employed, flipping property, work for the Government part time as well. I have a nice life, you have a nice day – If you can ;)

@Halpert, my, what language young “Lady”. Your words jumped off the page, what’s wrong hun? Seems as though your undies are bunched. Hope you get your refund in 2 minutes. In fact, my state deposited last evening, Fed will tonight /morning.

*could see the system was working to verify
She stated I didn’t need to ID verify, I didn’t need to turn in any paperwork and she has seen some people have their refund released prior to the 60 days. Turbo tax checked for errors as well and found none when I spoke with them today. Guys you just gotta wait. 😞
-
February 25, 2020 at 2:49 pm #4377452
I spoke with a very helpful IRS rep today. She let me know that I was selected by the computer system. Nothing they can do to intervene. Not eligible for a tax advocate until after 03/09. She stated she didn’t see my return was flagged for errors and that she could the system was working to verify my info

Update:::
-
February 25, 2020 at 2:05 pm #4377268Jeremy
@bdtx
Alot of the reviews I’m seeing ppl talk about are wage verify related. Most likely they cant match your wages with your employers yet. They will put a 45 to 60 day review on it. Shouldnt take that long though -
February 25, 2020 at 1:47 pm #4377201
So now I have to fax in my health insurance form along with a 8962 form and a cover form explaining I never got it due to wrong address . Once I fax it over and they review it …she said it takes 6-8 weeks from THAT date. So even if y’all think market place didn’t send y’all a form call and double check!
-
February 25, 2020 at 1:45 pm #4377196
I spoke to a IRS rep this mornin I filed on 1/14 and was accepted had no movement since then called today they told me my return is considered incomplete because I didn’t have my market place insurance form attached ( TT didn’t ask anything about it) I called to see if market place even had a form for me and they told me they sent out to wrong address

Put a freaking sock in it will you?! Goodness gracious. I hope you get your money in two minutes so you can shut the hell up.
-
February 25, 2020 at 1:38 pm #4377167Bdtx
Yeah, they randomly selected people to be possibly audited. If they do decided to audit you, they’ll send you another letter.
As of now, you’re being reviewed for a possible audit. This could take anywhere from 45 to 60 days.
-
February 25, 2020 at 1:32 pm #4377137Toritha
Me too. My transcript shows 570 but not that a letter was sent. I got a letter yesterday saying my return needs additional review and It can take up to 60 days. IRS guy on phone told me i didn’t need to do anything but i should double check my return for errors and if i find any to amend it.
After reviewing I realized I left out the small amount of unemployment I got for 4 weeks last year. TT won’t let me amend till later this week.
I feel like I’m never going to get my refund.
-
February 25, 2020 at 1:20 pm #4377074JoJo
@Target Everything I’m reading says only people who have insurance through the marketplace needs to file the form (1095-a not 1095-b or 1095-c). However we have private insurance and still got pulled for review. I’m still waiting on my letter as well should be in in the next couple of days.
-
February 25, 2020 at 2:58 am #4375371Target
Want a lil inside info?! Lol. TurboTax and IRS, had a long standing agreement that IRS would not compete w TT. Guess who (fairly recent) broke their agreement? Lol.
Ok. I’m done..
-
February 25, 2020 at 2:47 am #4375363Target
@Erica, I’ve had no issues. All forms people have said TT omitted in their returns, were provided me: self employed, also work for the Government part time. All forms were provided to me. I also took my precious time preparing. Crossing every T, dotting every i. One filer said TT left out page”s” of forms. This person had a complicated return. TT should’ve caught this/ denied service. Nope, took the money & half assed it. FACTS. Not speculation.
-
February 25, 2020 at 2:34 am #4375345Target
@Jojo, that is incorrect. I am one who did have the form provided. Guess who received NOTICE from IRS to file/attatch form 1095-a/8962?! Lots of TT filers. The difference effective – 2019- we’re no longer penalized, but must provide proof. 1095-B form is attached to all w2s provided by your employer. The former is for Marketplace and self employment.
-
February 25, 2020 at 2:09 am #4375323Target
TURBOTAX, did NOT provide important forms, to it’s many filers this yr. They should be under review. IMHO. Their incompetence has left returns being scrutinized by the IRS. How tf can you allow anyone to file if forms needed are not ready or can’t be provided? TurboTax DID! All one has to do is a quick Google search, also, the very many postings here.
-
February 25, 2020 at 1:49 am #4375306Target
Because they ARE to blame in some cases. Sure, you fill out forms – if they are provided (TT didn’t provide many forms this yr), TurboTax input your info and also do the mathematical calculations. And YES, errors can/do occur – e-filing. Now, I’ve heard of preparers screwing up the paper work, too. Transposing can and does occur. We all know, 1 little error can send the IRS into a tizzy. Lol.
-
February 25, 2020 at 1:42 am #4375299Target
@Halpert, haven’t you heard how TT dropped the ball this yr, failing handfuls of customers? I filed perfectly fine w them as well. But many did not. I took my time – worked on my return for 2 weeks before pressing that file button. I wanted NO issues.
-
February 25, 2020 at 12:47 am #4375208Pamela Beasley Halpert
…. Why are you all blaming TT???? If YOU filed your own damn taxes??? That doesn’t make sense. I’ve filed TT for the past 4/5 years. No issues. I filed this year 2/14, accepted 2/14 and DDD 2/26…. soooooo 🤷🏾♀️

February 24, 2020 at 10:18 pm #4374857
Filed on 1/31. Accepted same day. On Path. Never got Path message. Had being processed messaged until 2/17 then it went to still being processed. Received letter 4464c. Under 60 day review. Called IRS today and the woman said she sees my refund on my return and it is scheduled to release on the 1st. I
She said I should update this week. I have always been weekly. If I’m scheduled to get my refund on 3/1 then I would update tonight so that would make me daily now, correct. -
February 24, 2020 at 10:00 pm #4374808
The IRS told my husband today that we were under review and in “error status” then she proceeded to say that our return hasn’t even been processed at all yet or looked at. He said “how would you know if there’s an error if it hasn’t been looked at” and she said well it’s gotten that far just been flagged for an error? So bizarre. We are gonna call back tomorrow and see if we get a different answer

-
February 24, 2020 at 8:22 pm #4374551
I just spoke to IRS agent, because I was still processing a refund will be provided at a later date. A real nice guy took a look at my refund at told me I was not done processing yet. That is why my transcripts say NA. Most of the rest off us should update this week, only the first batch got DD. So hope this helps!
-
February 24, 2020 at 7:12 pm #4374320
Not doing TurboTax ever again. It was perfect for the last few years but this year has been the WORSE year to do taxes I have ever had.
-
February 24, 2020 at 7:00 pm #4374285Lexlo9091
I did reach out for a second time. The agent didn’t mention 60 days. But that my refund was frozen until it was verified for accuracy. She did check for errors and saw none though. She went on to tell me I’d have to allow 45 days before an additional letter was sent. I called a third time and was told that in the event the hold is removed they would NOT notify me and would just release the funds.
-
February 24, 2020 at 4:55 pm #4373792
This year a new algorithm was added to detect deception in w2s. It will flag your return if w2 does not match return. Your review could take up to 60 days. It goes for a manual check at this point, if all is well you’ll get your money if not you’ll get a letter.
-
February 24, 2020 at 4:31 pm #4373721
I don’t believe it has 100% to do with Turbo Tax. I think its the IRS watching their rears. I filed all 3 of my kids and brother all on TT, filed 2 of the kids after mine and the other kid and brother a week later. None of them with any credits. Just a basic return. The ones filed on 1/26 got theres a week later. The 2 filed a week after just got theirs the 20th
-
February 24, 2020 at 4:25 pm #4373702annoyed
What will happen if you call except they tell you it’s nothing they can do? I suggest getting a tax advocate, it helped me last year. I’m going to give it another week then call to set one again this year. This is so stupid. I used HRB not TT.
-
February 24, 2020 at 4:19 pm #4373684Tim
Guys I’m just being honest, bug the crap out of the IRS for your refunds if its under review…i didn’t get mine until June last year and it was a really simple fix on my return. Call them daily, or they will continue to send 45 day letters, then 60 day letters. I’m not trying to scare anyone, but it can and has happened.
-

Just spoke to an IRS agent.. I apparently have been pulled for review for something so minor. My wages are off by literally $6.. this I don’t understand as I looked over my return 40x before sending it off. They say this review can take 60days wtf.. I have my transcripts but am not sure how to read them. Any help?

I used Turbo Tax this year and have dependents that I claimed but mailed mine on Jan, 30 but I keep checking, but the IRS has not even acknowledged that they have received my return yet. Is that normal or should I expect to get the verify like everyone else and if so will the information system tell me.
-
February 24, 2020 at 4:06 pm #4373628
Have any of you reached back out after you informed of the review? I just got my mail for the day and I still haven’t gotten the letter they sent last week.
I’d hate if it were a letter that required a response.

February 24, 2020 at 3:58 pm #4373603JoJo
@Target Health insurance does not need to be reported this year on your taxes. That regulation has been removed.

Under 60 day review
I used Turbo Tax
TT is a crock of shit -
February 24, 2020 at 3:48 pm #4373570Bdtx
Yep, I used TurboTax and I’m now under review for the first time ever. I don’t think I filled out all the forms. I believe some of the forms were missing and they let me submit my return anyway.

February 24, 2020 at 3:37 pm #4373539Lexlo9091
I think this is such a load of bs. Especially considering the rep stated the 60 days starts from the time the letter is generated by the system 🙄.
So it’s a computer generated letter, with no known reason why it was generated and no action needed. 🙄🙄Lesson I learned this year: Don’t believe the IRS or TurboTax
-
February 24, 2020 at 3:34 pm #4373532Lovebunny
Exact same for me. I have a code 570 and none after that. I have not received anything. Rep said review started on the 20th.
-
February 24, 2020 at 3:26 pm #4373502
@Target Are you able to see your transcripts? If so, did any codes pop up? I’ve seen where ppl are getting letters for the 60 day review and nothing is happening on their transcripts except the regular codes.
-
February 24, 2020 at 3:19 pm #4373477Target
All of which, has caused delay in many people’s refund w bad error codes & letters to idverify. Check TurboTax Forums. And grab some popcorn. What a mess they created. Maybe the IRS has decided TT filers need a closer look.
-
February 24, 2020 at 3:12 pm #4373444Target
I empathize w all going through. AND CALL IF IT’S BEEN TOO LONG W NO UPDATE NOR NOTES/LETTERS. The IRS is in no hurry.
Good luck everyone.

-
February 24, 2020 at 3:11 pm #4373441Target
@Heidi, this yr, TurboTax dropped the ball. I used them w no issues. But many are reporting problems, from pages of missing forms and allowing filers to proceed to file anyhow, not showing the option to add insurance information – that one seems a huge complaint. Among others. Many (in previous posts), suggested TT issue a refund or partial, for services clearly not provided.
-
February 24, 2020 at 3:04 pm #4373414Lexlo9091
I asked what was the reason and he told me it’s random selection. And that no action was needed from me.
@Heidi you read my thoughts. I’d definitely like to see a class action lawsuit filed against turbo tax. I’ve been using them for 8 years and I just found out this year about Santa Barbara bank and how it’s used.
Mind you nothing about Santa Barbara bank is listed during filing.
-
February 24, 2020 at 2:56 pm #4373395Heidi
@lexlo I’m finding it so weird that so many of us are all under review and noticing we all used turbotax.

February 24, 2020 at 2:50 pm #4373376patientlywaiting
It could be a possibility of ID verify. I had that one year not even knowing until I realized it was forever since my refund wasn’t sent yet that I called and was told someone tried to file under my ssn right after I filed. It took me almost the 60 day wait too and so from now on every year I have to wait for IRS to send me a pin before I can file.
