I just got my mail and there was a letter from the IRS in my box. I instantly felt sick to my stomach. I filed and was accepted on 1/17/17. So this whole time I’m thinking I’m going to be getting a DDD any time now. Nope… It’s a godamn Identity Verification letter. So now I have to call and verify my ID. So that means I’m going to have to wait even longer for my refund now. I had to do this last year also. Does anyone know how much time this adds to getting your refund? Thanks!

Most people are reporting a delay of approx. a week, sometimes 2 after ID verification. Ideally, it should only delay things a week, but one never knows with the IRS.

I remember this happening to me one year. Just happened to be a year that I was obsessively checking WMR and got kicked out a lot. Not sure if that flagged me or what but the year I did it maybe delayed it another two weeks or so. I at the time was also getting a check so direct deposit might go quicker.
