I filed on 1/16 and accepted 1/17. No EIC no ACTC. Just a regular joint return that I have turned in for the last 10 years. Same address, same employer, same health insurance, same children.
I have had the still processing message for almost 3 weeks already. Called the IRS on monday and was told that there was an error when initially processing the return. I was asked if I received anything in the mail for ID and i said no. They said that I should see some movement in the next 4 weeks and basically just to wait. -

From IRS press release!
“Where’s My Refund?”
Begins Updating Feb. 16 for EITC and ACTC Filers
By law, the IRS must hold Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit refunds until Feb. 15. Taxpayers will begin to see refunds claiming EITC/ACTC the week of Feb. 27. “Where’s My Refund?” will update for EITC/ACTC refunds beginning Feb. 16, with the vast majority updating by Feb. 18. -

Eitc,actcI had one bar after my return was accepted. Kept one bar for a couple days, then went to PATH message. Been there ever since. So excited to see what I wake up to tomorrow. Even if my refund is not in my bank, I’m still looking forward to finding something out!

Filed and accepted 1/24, no credits, just school credit which isn’t being held back. Called today, they stated they’re sending out a letter to ID VERIFY. Extremely pissed off and inpatient. IT’S MY MONEY AND I WANT IT NOW!!! Cannot believe this. Last year filed 1/20 and got my money 2/10, same return, nothing changed besides my address. They couldn’t tell me what the reason for ID verify was, maybe someone got a hold of my identity idk? but yeah today will be calling to verify. Good luck to you. I sure hope you don’t have to verify either :( it’s like they’re throwing these letters on everyone to cover their behinds. :(

@CupcakeRose
Did you end up calling? If so, what did they have to say? I am a 1/28 filer as well with all the same steps/dates as you.
I am hoping to have something different on WMR tomorrow but, at this point, I don’t expect much in the way of movement or progress :(

Filed & accepted on 1/28 via Credit Karma
HOH, 3 children, 1 new Foster Child
EIC and ACTC
I have been able to pull up my account and return transcripts since Saturday 2/4. WMR has been updated to PATH ACT Notification since Saturday as well. I have not received anything in the mail. But I will be calling in the morning just in case to inquire because my neighborhood is dealing with a mail theft issue. I think that I’m hoping and praying all signs point to everything being ok. This return year is really dragging. I usually have my money by now. I’m trying to be as patient as I can but I’m trying to go to Disneyland before spring break and that little extra money would make it even better.

@Bill
Not Tru. My family owns a business. All W2’s had to be into the IRS by 1/31. That is why no refunds with refundable credits could be paid till on/after 2/15…to give the IRS 2 wks to cross reference info from the return with the W2 in hopes of catching fraudulent returns
-
February 9, 2017 at 10:44 pm #4165784Bill
@RO
The employer first sends the W2 to the SSA and then they forward it to the IRS, they are still not getting the employers W2 until may usually after the tax season.
The Path act is to help identity fraud and give the refunds more time to process before they are paid out, They might be cross checking socials and prior year ETC but not W2 not yet anyways

Filed 1/30
Accepted a few mins later
Filed HOH with EIC & ACTC
Message went from the generic tax 152 to the Path message on 2/4
Ordered both transcripts 2/4I will say that I went thru refund HELL a few yrs ago. I let my husband claim our child the 1st yr & I tried to claim her once I went back to work the next. BIG MISTAKE; I was pulled for review & had to prove that I actually took care of my daughter! HELL I TELL YA! Long story short, it took me over a yr to get my refund; they had to pay me interest bcuz they held it so long.
Two yrs later, the same thing happened when I claimed our son. But that yr, they only held my refund 9 months. SMDH
Both times, the website changed from the generic tax 152 message to ‘we are processing…’to ‘you are under review & will receive a letter in the mail…’ It actually said that on the site (I don’t think they had an app the 1st time).
Since then, I hav not had any real problems (knock on wood), except for last year when I was resequenced when the system had a shutdown( took an addtl 2wks for my refund). I can say that for me personally, the transcript stuff is true. I was never able to order them when I was under review, but every time I was able to order them, I had a DD within 2 wks.I learned ALOT during the hell time & i can say with certainty that the PATH law is just to verify that a filer’s W2 matches what the return is. That is how they r looking for fraud. Employers had to hav the W2 into the IRS by 1/31 this year when they usually had until the end of March to turn it in. If the W2 doesn’t match the return thats filed, it is pulled & flagged. Also, any big change (besides income amount) or discrepancy is flagged and reviewed (I.e. Dependants added, change of address where the Post office never had a changed filed, name change, etc)
Just my personal story guys…what I actually went thru. No speculation here. Hope that helps… -

Still have PATH message:Refund Status Results
According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue refunds before February 15 for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. This applies to the entire refund, even the portion not associated with these credits.
Check Where’s My Refund after February 15 for your personalized refund status. It’s updated once a day and remains the best way to check the status of your refund.Please read the following information related to your tax situation:
Tax Topic 152, Refund Information
Please Note:
For refund information, please continue to check here, or use our free mobile app, IRS2Go. Updates to refund status are made no more than once a day.Not sure what the heck is going on!

Filed 1/18 accepted 1/18 and both my state and federal say processing with all my info on the left. I’ve called both multiple times and have been told if it says processing, they’re doing simply that, processing.
Hoping I get an update this Saturday since I’m weekly in past years.
