Hey guys and gals, this is a post for all of us to follow. All the injured spouses who filed with unemployment income before the changes were made to exempt the first $10,200 from taxes. We will be owed a refund of probably around $1,000, so I’m just starting this so that we can all track when each other is getting it so that we have an idea of when they’ll start to send it out. They said they would start sending it out this month for single filers with simple returns, and then the rest of us with more complicated returns and who filed jointly will get it later

I would be surprised if they require another IS form though. If they do, I’m not even filling it out because that would mean we realistically probably wouldnt even get the money back until next year. We are already more than halfway through the year and I believe the child support agencies start sending the offset warning letters in August to warn you to pay by September or October to avoid offset certification.

I haven’t heard that yet – but to be fair, I haven’t heard ANYTHING lol. I wouldn’t be surprised if they offset it, which is unfair if it’s the income from the IS – but they don’t care about fairness since they also like to take our children’s credits and stimulus checks to give to other families.

So I’m hearing that us Injured Spouses are having our UE refund offset for child support and that we have to mail in another IS form to claim it. Has anyone else heard this same info?
