I just check online and received this message “Your refund has been applied to a past due IRS tax obligation.”. I filed for 14039 for Identity after receiving a letter from IRS that I owe more than $33k in 2017. The amount was due to an under report from a company I never worked for “Paypal” I also just found out that my info was part of the Equifx breach in 2017. So I filed Identity Theft for all 3 credit bureaus and form 14039 Tuesday night. I was expecting my refund and needed it badly now this! I called them Wedsndey to place a hold on the collection when agent told me there wasnt a collection on the account at the moment. I received the first letter saying I need to pay by March 2. I reported everything and they still saying they took my refund. How is this fair when I was clearly a victim of Identity theft. What am I supposed to do now…call again? The lady at IRS who files the collect hold told me I has 4 weeks (march 18) and if the case wasnt closed by then to call and extend the hold. Any help or advice with this would help please thank you!

You need an Advocate, or more than likely, Lawer to help get this mess sorted. Oh my, sorry you’re dealing w this. Get help ASAP! You’ll need to prove you never worked for paypal. Sounds like someone used your identity in a PayPal scam. You should contact them, too!

          All the best to ya!!
