Hi all! Does anyone know when IRS will begin accepting returns for the 2023 tax year?

The IRS app said my funds haven’t been sent yet but I called my card and it said it was deposited on the 16

I filed with TT 1/15/24 Accepted 1/19/24. TT est refund date 2/9/24. CTC but no EITC.

Hey y’all hey I think this may help. I logged into my irs account and this message is at the top.

Limited account services due to planned maintenance
Payments made Dec. 26, 2023 – Jan. 19, 2024 will process normally but may take longer to show as “Processed”. Updated balances and payment activity will be available the week of Jan. 21, 2024.

@Lovely_Missive – my WMR says that too but I’ve not yet been accepted. Maybe I’m a weekly too and that’s why. Crossing my fingers there’s no problem.

Jared I saw a few on the IGMR Facebook page. They’ll keep accepting and loading returns into the system so acceptance can still happen before the 29th.

The IRS is accepting refunds later i each year pretty soon it’s going to be the middle of February before they accept them

@Lovely_Missive – Mine was also accepted yesterday on the 16th and my WMR says the same thing as yours. I think it’s because I am a weekly05 and probably won’t get an update on WMR until later, like this weekend.

Filed with TT on the 11th and IRS accepted my return yesterday on Jan 16th. The IRS2Go app however says “Information does not match. Please reenter your information.” But I know it is correct. Anyone else with this?

I filed with FreeTaxUSA this time on January 11, 2024. I just received an email saying my Federal return was accepted on January 16, 2024 145pm (pst).

I e-filed with turbo tax on Jan 5 (successfully transmitted). I’m EITC and just got an email saying the IRS has accepted my return. So I’m probably in a test batch but they’ll hold my refund until mid to late feb like everyone else anyway.

Can you explain the Jan 18th date as opposed to Jan 29th?

It looks like acceptance date is 1/18 but processing is 1/29. Does anyone know of preparers that offer RALs prior to acceptance?

It was announced today by the IRS that the official opening day is 1/29
