      I owed the IRS from last year, and this year it was deducted from both my Federal and State refunds. Has this happened to anyone else? Any idea who I should contact first? Thank you

          I just had this same issue, literally in the same week. Definitely glad to have found this chain… So at this point, do i just wait or call the company that handles offsets? I’ve had such a hellish time in the last few years and I was so glad to finally have the debt paid off BUT NOT TWICE.

              Do anyone know once they process the payment, when will they issue the refund check?

                Do anyone know when they usually refund the check once they see it has been taking twice? I’ve been calling and calling and to no avail.

                  So finally after this long wait. My federal return was approved but was notified that my offset was taken from my federal return when it had already been taken from my state return on 2/22/16. How do I resolve this and who should I call? The state who I owed or the IRS ?????

                    @Ashley

                    I had this happen a few years ago. Georgia back state taxes were owed. They took it from my federal taxes first , but then they kept state too!

                    They must do this often, because when I called Georgia this situation had its own option to press. The automated message would say they would receive notice of the payment being paid twice and once they did I would be reimbursed.

                    Weeks went by and nothing….Finally, Ga told me that we actually owed money from an earlier year as well and they applied money to that debt!

                    We didn’t owe and we tried to get it rectified, but they made it so difficult eventually I just gave it up.

                      Unfortunately both payments were already processed and I don’t think they caught it yet, though I’m sure they won’t be rushing to get it back to me haha

                        They’ll refund you once they process your payment
