Does anyone know what effect this closing had on week 2/9 – 2/14 tax return acceptances?

The IRS was closed 2/16 for President’s Day, and the very next day, (2-17), there was a snow storm and government offices were closed in the D.C. metro area.

It seems most returns were already a week behind schedule; I’m wondering if this is going to add another week and a half to an already backed up wait. With all the identity theft going on, slimmed down IRS staff, Obama Care errors – this season has turned into a nightmare.

I filed Jan 20. Have a cycle code of 20150402. I do have a 570 then a 971notice issues with a date of 2/23/15 on my transcript. When I called the irs they told me I didn’t get flagged or anything so I have no idea what’s goin on. I wasn’t issued w any notice. I’m just wondering if anyone eles has this problem.

Thankfully none of the processing places are in DC. Connecticut, North Carolina, Kentucky, California, Missouri and Ohio, I believe. I wish there were though. It would be a more legit reason why things are held up. I thought they weren’t doing as many audits and reviews due to being short staffed, yet it seems everyone that doesn’t have an ez straight forward, single, no dependents return is under some sort of review.

This is one of the worst year for tax filing, in my 20 years of working and filing.. I never had so much trouble getting answers, and returns. My best year was in 99, file at a local office, that morning and got a check that evening minus 50 bucks for the rapid refund and it was a 2k check. You would think with the tech we have and ways to prevent ID fraud it would be just as good.. They need to send new PIN each year to prevent further ID frauds, as i was flagged and now i get a new PIN every tax season, and what took matter of days, now takes weeks and its only getting worst.

Not sure but that’s a very good question! I filed and showed that I was accepted on 2/13. Transcripts are still showing all 000’s with my old address, and states that a return hasn’t been filed. I was unaware of any snowstorms that would’ve closed govt offices though. Going that I start to see some proofs soon before I literally go crazy!!! It’s been a week and nothing has changed, unlike last year, when I got my refund in 9 days!! Praying for all of us!!
