I’m seeing a lot of people on here saying their return was “Accepted” before 1/23. However 1/23 was the date the IRS started accepting returns. Isn’t that right? Because i submitting on 1/21 and then got accepted 1/25. Just wanted to clarify.

The acceptance everyone refers to is electronic acceptance by the staging system. It does a check to make sure no one has filed or claimed any of the SSNs in the filing. It isn’t accepted by the IRS to their main system until the following business day. This is the day of acceptance the IRS refers to.

I agree filled on the 23rd an the only thing I see on irs.gov is the PATH message I got my w2 early this year that’s the only reason I filed. I’m not understanding what happens to the ectc an ACT people who file after the 15 will it be a hold on their return to.

The IRS accepts a small amount before the official opening date as a test batch, I was accepted on 1/18 but the IRS claims they don’t process any returns until opening date.

Honestly, I always file in March and never have problems but received my w2 very early this year so I filed and haven’t received any refund yet- where’s my refund bars are missing- it’s a mess. Never again will I file early.
