how i found out if i was gonna have to verify my id, i went to the site that verifies your id. try placing your info in and if it continues and start asking you questions only the real you should only know then that means your flagged because they were unable to verify your id, and that’s why your bars are missing, and that’s why your return is being delayed. i realized this because i had researched before finding out what the missing bars may have meant, which was they were having a hard time verifying your id and they couldn’t guarantee your return in 21 days no more. you are under manual review, and your return are being placed on hold until they are able to verify your ID. me and my wife filed separately, her bars went missing as well. i told her to go through the id verification site as i did and hers didn’t go through. hers didn’t go through because they wasn’t having problems verifying her id, and i figured that out once she got a ddd the next day of 2/10. i was like wow, so that’s why it allowed me to go through the verification process and not her, because they wasn’t delaying hers for identity theft. if you do it before your 21 days are up you’ll be ahead, because by the time they tell you anything it’ll be 21 days. you’ll have to wait 9 weeks from the day you got verified so do it now. they say 9 weeks only because that’s what they are trained to tell u. normally it’ll take like a week or 2. the site to go through is idverify.irs.gov. also a good way to find out if your return has been done processing try and order your return transcript with the address you filed your income tax with this year. if it goes through then be expecting a ddd on the next cycle update. that’s what happened with my wife, and we filed the same exact day. good luck.

I did my tax’s on Jan 19. So I should have gotten my return on Feb 9. When I didn’t I called. I never got a letter or even a notice on the website all it ever said is your return is still being processed. A return date will be update when avaible.
when I finally got someone on the phone after saying I wanted to make a payment I was told a security hold had been placed and I need to call 800-830-5084 to verify my identity. I did and I was given the same it could be up to 9 weeks.
Today My WMR Status has changed from ” Your refund is still being processed” to “We have received your tax return and it is being processed”
I need this return, so I am trying to be hopeful I will post if I get it soon.

              Filed tt 1/25/2016
Lost bars and refund amount 1/30/16 still had tax topic 152
              ordered tax account transcript 2/6/2016
still not able to order return transcripts as of today

I went to idverify.irs.org to verify my identity and after I entered my information I was given this :

              Identity Verification Service

We are unable to verify your identity online

For all inquiries, please visit IRS.gov or call 1-800-829-1040.

So I called the number and told them I received this message saying to call because I cannot verify my id online. She pulled up my account and said that I could not do it, because it was not needed for my taxes. I told her about the lost bars and she said it means nothing, that the only note on my account was that it needed 1-2 weeks additional processing. She said if there was a problem with my taxes that I would have received a 4 digit error code and not tax topic 152 and that this is a unique tax season and the irs is taking full advantage of the 21 days to process taxes.

Means if it’s not broken don’t fix it. Exactly why I want try it you can flag your account by inadvertently trying to I’d yourself what if you didn’t need to but did and failed now what? Should leave well enough alone. BTW lots are doing it because people say it will get you ahead but how if in fact they say it can take additional 9 weeks hhhmmmm?

My parents filed (joint) 1/26 and they were still showing received and processing (one bar on WMR). I filed 2/5 and have a DDD of 2/16. I told my mom to call and speak with a rep. They told her that their taxes had been flagged for id theif. So I looked up the id verification number on this site. When she spoke with someone in the id theif department they verified that their return was flagged and gave them the number to call and go through the verification process. The rep stated that their 21 days will start over from today. I’m happy to be apart of this site otherwise I would not have been able to help them.

I went to that website and tried to verify my info and I had the following info pop up:

                      Identity Verification Service

We are unable to verify your identity online

For all inquiries, please visit IRS.gov or call 1-800-829-1040.

Does this mean there is nothing wrong with my info?
