Larry,
You will be good my friend. Once the IRS releases the refund, it will be routed through BFS before it is sent to your financial institution. BFS will remove the debt, and forward the remainder of the refund to you. It should be seamless (other than the lesser amount), and since you know the debt amount, you know what your refund will be.
Best of luck.

Its crazy people are wishing other’s bad luck? Some people (like myself) are not english majors and they way they write sounds not so correct? People str8 dog others because they took a text wrong or something, who knows.. This year’s taxes are stupid and people need money and they FIND this site after searching why they dont have their money.. Rich or poor , its ours. Some need it yesterday , some need it Monday, in anycase again it’s ours! So let’s start calling people pos’s because your still waiting.

Not sure if this helps but as far as garnishing for lack of payments in rent or been sued and have liens not from state or federal they wont take. Only late child support , unemployment benefits, late taxes , school collections are the only one’s allowed to take refund money. It’s really a short list and mostly everything else is not of concern! Im sure i missed something but like i said it’s a really short list.. This year’s taxes are slow as can be

Maybe this will help someone. Last weekend wmr updated for me DDD 2/22 with TT203. Called the offset hotline, option two said I had an offset, call Bureau of Fiscal Services. They are closed weekends, and of course Monday was a holiday, so after stressing out for several days on Tuesday I find out it’s for a co-pay from the VA. Anyway, my bank had my refund (minus offset) at 10:15pm cst on 2/21.
My WMR had full refund amount all week, two bars, DDD 2/22. I checked WMR this am and I have 3 bars, refund sent ,states how much refund WAS, how much offset was and actual amount sent to my bank. -

I have a state offset. You’ll still get your money on 2/27 but it will be less then what you’re expecting. Call the offset line. They’ll tell you the amount of the offset and who’s taking the money. At least that’ll help because you’ll know what to expect.

Guys when I was updated this morning and I had two bars. Approved. DDD of 2/27. My refund amount showing is the whole amount I was expecting. At bottom is TT 203. When I called it was Ky Dept of Revenue where I lived years ago. I owe a couple hundred in state taxes there. What happens Wednesday on my DDD? It going to my Emerald Card direct deposit. Will any of my refund be here Wednesday? All?

I had an offset last year. It does not change the timing. You wont get the original amount expected but the offset amount.

If it’s telling you the deposit amount and it’s what your expecting that’s what you’ll get

@Larry Huff
I didn’t know state offsets affect federal taxes I had something in collections but that went to my state refund only way the federal refund can be taken is from like student loans child support or like unemployment or any government back pay I believe not state stuff that’s in collections

I’ve had an Alabama tax bill that creates an “offset” every year but they never take it. I don’t live in Alabama anymore so I’m not sure if they’d take it if I still lived in that state or if it was another state but that’s been my experience 😊

@Joejoe: correct refund minus offset.

In my experience, offsets do not effect your deposit timing. They generally process the offset before giving you a DDD. Sometimes, WMR will reflect an offset by showing a lower amount on your page. As I said, in my experience, it has never delayed my refund.

You’ll get your refund on the 27th minus the offset
