If You got a refund advance Do NOT wait on Serve anymore: Use IRS Portal

If you took out a refund advance with Jackson Hewitt, then do not expect to receive an automatic deposit on your Serve card. Numerous of us with refund advances have verified by using the IRS portal that the IRS did NOT have any information on file for our payments.

What the portal can be used for: Check on the status of your Economic Impact Payment

This application will give you information about:

Your payment status
Your payment type
Whether we need more information from you, including bank account information

1. Go to: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment

2. Enter your social security number, DOB, and the street address and zip code as it appears on your last tax return. The next screen will tell you if the IRS has your bank info.

3. If the IRS does not have any bank info on file for you(which for those who got advances they don’t), click the box to provide your direct deposit info.

The information you’ll need for the next screens:

Adjusted Gross Income from Your 2019 return, if filed, or your AGI from Your 2018 return. You can access your returns through irs.gov or My JH.

You’ll also need:
Routing Number for your checking account
Account Number for your checking account

After you’re done, it should show the last 4 numbers for the checking account number you provided as where to expect your payment.

Any time, thereafter, you return to check the status and it will show where your payment is expected to be deposited. by displaying the last four digits of your checking acct number.

If the account that it is being deposited to ends in the last 4 of my ssn, does that mean it is being sent as a check. I’m a bit confused I’ve never had an account ending in the last 4 of my ssn

@Stephanie I did the same thing i did it Wednesday morning before even receiving that email and now my status also says im supposed to be mailed a check on the 24th. Many people are having this issue no matter what direct deposit they updated with whether it was the serve card or another bank. I also know for a fact emerald card people are having that same status that used hr block. Its frustrating heard its a glitch but not sure.

I put in direct deposit info for the American express serve card after receiving an email from them stating that I would need to update it with the IRS. It included my account and routing number. After inputting info, it said it would be direct deposited to that account. Checking it this morning, now it says I will receive a check by mail? Is this a glitch?

Okay so my direct deposit info was accepted on Wednesday. Today it updated and says that my check will be mailed to me on the 24th. What was the point of having a tool to update your information if they were just going to mail a check anyways?

It confirms people who received refund advances and/or had fees taken out need to use the GET MY PAYMENT portal.

@sarrabi thanks for heads up I thought the same thing I swear my info enter is exactly what’s on file If it lock me out again turbo tax support say to give them a call back minus well put the premium service in use hahaha

@Emily —> To update a taxpayer mailing address, please visit republictaxpayer.com and submit a Taxpayer Maintenance Form.<—Log in with your 2019 tax info. Then click the three lines in the left corner. Click FORMS and then click taxpayer maintenance form. Very bottom of form has an email address for you to submit the form!

I’m so screwed
I dont have the same address anymore and could not get ahold of them to change my address I got hung up on 3 times today by them.
I put a hold mail with the usps service hoping they will hold it at the post office

My educated guess is if the IRS deposits to Republic this week, then checks should logically be able to go out by next week.

@Rob I have that same dash on my return but it did not require I enter the dash or the other four digits. I only entered a five digit zip code. Also, make sure you do not use dashes for your social security number. Once you regain access, it’s possible you could try the 9 digits as one of your attempts.

If Republic receives a current year taxpayer’s payment , the funds will be sent via mailed check to the taxpayer’s current mailing address on file at no cost to the taxpayer. Taxpayers will be able to identify they are a part of this small percentage of taxpayers whose funds will be routed to Republic because the bank acct on the IRS’ “Get My Payment” tool shows an acct ending with the last 3 digits of the taxpayer’s SSN plus a zero. https://www.republictaxpayer.com/

I enter my zip code as five digit but when I look at my tax file it was *****-**** it had a 4 digit extension I should type all 9 numbers including the dash for zip code correct?

SS Number: No dashes
DOB should contain slashes.
Your address and zip code must be exactly as it appears on your 2019 return or your 2018 return if you haven’t filed 2019 yet or 2019 is still being processed.

It usually doesn’t lock until you enter wrong AGI info or wrong refund amount.
