This year’s tax season seems to be going down the tubes fast. I’ve seen a lot of chatter about folks calling in to check their status with a live representative to find out their processing is held up waiting for identity verification. They didn’t receive a notice, just happened to call in because they’re antsy like the rest of us. Has anyone here had they happen, and how long do you wait before checking to see if something is wrong?

Filed the 7th accepted the11th bars went missing the 1/30/16 id verified the 2/4 still waiting

Sooo I’ve been filing for the last now 8 years with Tax Slayer using Santa Barbara bank to cover the costs for e-filing as I do every year. Filed and accepted Jan 27th. Bars disappeared on Feb 6th. Called spoke with rep this morning rude as hell! Didn’t even take any of my info but said I’ll have to wait and call after 21 days. Called back again, got same lady so I hung up on her.. Called this afternoon and was told I needed to verify my identity gave me a number to call todo so. I than I got transferred, to Identification verification, now back with IRS who said that it had nothing todo with my address… That in 2012 someone stole my identity and tried to submit a return… So now from 2012-2018 they’ll be “manually” reviewing my return to ensure my protection now they’re saying 12 weeks… Due to a computer glitch!!! I was never informed of this or faced such issues in the past, no error codes or letters

I checked WMR this morning and realized my bars were gone so I decided to call Id Verify and just like last year I was pulled for review and had to verify my identity.
I went online to the ID verify website and it was quick and now I’m hoping for a DD date soon. I don’t remember how long the process was last year but this sucks.

WTF!!?!! Called and they say “too bad, gotta wait 6 weeks.”
I HATE THE IRS!!
Everyone here should START A PETITION.. We the People would like the IRS to Partner with GOOGLE and update/fix the INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE! My phone has a fingerprint scanner.. No one can crack icloud!! Yet people fraud and hack the IRS YEARLY!!

I was accepted was accepted January 13th. I lost my bars January 31st. I called the irs to check my status February 1st and was told I had to do the verification. I didn’t receive an error code nor letter. My tax topic was still 152 on wmr! I completed the verification over the phone February 5th. Now is the waiting game. They said to wait 6 weeks, but I am hoping it will be much sooner!
