Starting this for anyone else that received the dreaded letter.

Filed and accepted 1/28
WMR status bar disappeared with no tax topic “still being processed” with amount on 2/1
ID Verify Letter arrived 2/13
ID Verify online 2/14

The letter said to have 2018 and 2019 returns available. I went to the site and was asked to login, since I have an account I logged in. I was only asked a few questions about my 2019 return. Not sure what that means for what happened with my return, but it was painless and easy to do.

This is the first year I ever used a service (Turbo Tax), first year I filed as head of household, first year I claimed a dependent, moved in the middle of the year, changed my withholding in the middle of the year, and had my return rejected initially due to a typo on my dependents SSN. I also switched jobs this year and made 10% more than any other year. All the new stuff in my life is why I used Turbo Tax. I didn’t want to screw up. Needless to say, going back to filing on my own next year.

I’ll post an update here once I have one. IRS site says to check WMR in 2-3 weeks. Looking around the web, this sometimes turns into multiple 60 day reviews after the initial ID verify. Please post if you’ve received a letter this year, or in years past, with your experience.

I have anticipated, I may need to idverify w State. They’ve not even begone processing my return. Fed is seemingly moving along. The id verify itself seems painlessly easy, it’s what happens to some, after. Seems they put your files underneath a stack of papers and go on Holiday! To be honest, w verification process as simple as “show me last yrs return” the rest should be so easy! My guess is you only slightly red flagged. Some are trapped in idverify HELL, w much – short of a DNA test, needed before approval.

Did you calm the eic or actc. Like did you have the path message on where’s my refund?
