ID VERIFY 2018

so i just called the irs and they told me they sent me a letter for id verify. That once i received it to call in with the number on that letter besides that she said nothing is wrong with my return just my return wont be process until ID verify. I asked her If she can do it now she said no because the letter has a code i have to give when i call in. Never went through this. Has anyone done ID VERIFY?

I’m surprised you were able to efile. I’m a tax preparer and I can not efile without the client’s ID/DL.

I havent received a letter and i dont have a message on wmr, and my transcripts dont say a notice was sent either i think she was lying we will wait and see

I went through it last year. It was two weeks before I received the ID verify letter; you call the number on the letter, give them the verification code, and they’ll ask you a bunch of questions about your prior-year’s tax return. If they cannot verify over the phone, they will refer you to the closest IRS office to verify in person.

The whole process delayed my refund by approximately 45 days.
