ID Verify 2 years in a Row

Just want to see who’s in the same boat:

Filed/Accepted: 2/4
Lost Bars: 2/9
Called IRS: 2/26

He stated that I needed to verify my identity again before they process my return and that he was generating the letter and I should receive it in 14 days.

Hopefully I have it by early or mid next week. Last year it took 9 days for me to receive the letter. I’m hoping this year moves faster. I’m weekly so I pray I get it before next Friday. I just don’t understand why I have to do this every year now. I’ve never reported identity theft and nothing has changed for me. Anybody else have to do this every year?

I just don’t get it. Nothing has changed so what’s the big deal. No one has offered or said anything to me about a PIN number but if it can help avoid having to wait an extra month for my refund then I’m all for it. If I can prevent this for next year then I’ll do whatever.

Not every year but 3 years in a row most of the time you have to do ID verify and they should of giving you a code to use to file with your return for this year and next year then you don’t have to do the ID Verify! The code does that for you! Just my experience!

I have verified the last couple years, I think I have 1 more year to verify. Someone stole my identity a few years ago and have been verifying since then.

In the same boat as you, they said they issued the letter on 2/19, here we are on 2/27 and no letter arrived yet
