Filed 1/20 accepted sake day, was at 2/14. Lost bars and changed to 2/28. Got a letter yesterday to ID verify 2/14. Last time that happen was. Feb 2018 and I received my refund in March. Now the DDD wait game really begin

Had this issue years before and google Verify identity and the id me popped up and let me verify on 2/16 so I assumed that was the problem
Called irs 2/18 and they verified they sent a letter out and that was the issue on 2/1 so if I did it online I just have to wait
Now here I am

If you google Id verify irs it’ll pull up a site the irs has. I tried copying the link but it’s a generic link.

I’m also registered with Id.me that’s doesn’t mean anything even though it should but I still had to ID Verify so don’t assume just because you have an id.me account you do not have to ID verify it’s a totally different situation as the questions they ask pertain to your tax return and have nothing to do with verifying information about your actual ID

When you guys lost your bars on where’s my refund what did it say after that. I lost my bars and it says my return is still processing. My transcripts still say n/a so I’m not sure if I’m going to have to verify my identity or what

In the same position for the id verify. I was accepted 1/21. Had bars then they disappeared. Got my letter the 10th of February and did it the same day online. As of yet I’ve seen no progress so I’m hoping its sooner than later. Never had this problem before and its frustrating ugh!

@charlsea they only ask if it was you who filed the return your AGI for the year your refund amount and the last four digits of the checking account you used for DD thats it

I’m wondering what ID Verify entails. Like, what do they have you do to verify?

I had to call in and verify my ID last year. It delayed my return about a week and I’m PATH.
This year I have an ID(dot)me login so I hope anyone with one of those to login to the IRS wouldn’t have to do that again.

It normally only takes two weeks at the most after you verify at least for me it was nowhere near the 9 weeks they tell you

Just wanted to add: Identity theft is one of the main reasons for Path act. So it is there to protect, it’s just annoying AF at the same time 🤣

@Tklove, my son (18 then), received an id verify confirmation last yr! Was his first time filing taxes, had a little identity theft issue, irs wanted him come into their office, sit before them as proof. Asked a few questions. Process was less than half an hour from time we arrived which included wait time. Received dd 3 or 4 weeks later. Some, have reported a longer wait time. They’ll give you a timeframe after verification. All questions are ones you should know, so it’s a painless process.

I am in same boat never had to id verify before curious as to how long it takes to get ddd after we do it. So annoying feels like another excuse to not give people refunds

Wonder why you had to id verify again? I’ve heard of others falling in the yrly/ every other, id verify rabbit hole.
