      F/A 1/29
      Bars went missing 2/3
Called 2/22 was told to wait for letter
Called 2/27 was told I was supposed to receive an ID verification letter
Rep told me she would resend that day.
No mail as of this morning.

Where does the ID verification letter com from?
This is the one thing that is holding me up and I need this letter ASAP. Anyone have any suggestions?

I was only on hold about 3 minutes and it was really easy. Now I’m just waiting.

@justagey cool that’s easy I printed everything because I actually made an appointment to go in next week. I’ll wait on the phone as long as I have to hell I had to wait 10 days just to get the letter.
This is the first hill I just pray it’s smoothing riding from here and hopefully get a DDD next week. I doubt it will process soon enough for tomorrows update.

It was pretty easy since I had both years in TT. I just went there and downloaded the PDFs for both years, and was looking at them when I called.

Also, I was on hold for an hour before I talked to someone, so be prepared for that. Their hours are 7am-7pm, whatever time zone you’re in.

I called at 6:30pm local time, and was able to speak to someone around 7:30pm and complete it.

Some basic stuff off this year’s and last year’s returns, and some personal info not on the returns (parents’ names).

And the code on the letter.

@Steph Congrats! I hope that’s it for you! I know we’ve both waited quite some time for that letter.

@justagey informed delivery says a letter is coming today I haven’t ordered in transcripts so I’m positive that’s it. I’m ready to get this ball moving.

Finally got my 4883C last night and verified. Hopefully it’ll process on Saturday and I’ll get my DDD.

Wmr updated finally from saying still being processed to it is being processed. I should see a change on my transcripts tomorrow and then my bars should come back Saturday with a ddd. I’ll let you guys know. Filed 1/29. Got my idverify letter and called in 2/28. This is about to come to a close this year for me. Good luck everyone else

@justagey I’m on the phone now waiting for a tax advocate I don’t know what to do. I do have an IRS building about 20 minutes away but I suspect I can’t just walk in. I’d rather do that to verify myself than wait for this letter. I seriously can not afford to wait another 2 weeks and then god knows how long for my return.

Finally got my letter to verify and called in on the 28th. Transcripts are still blank. My return hasn’t even been processed yet and I filed 1/29. I’m hoping I get updated this weekend. Each year keeps getting worse and worse to file.

@Stephanie still nothing. And now, with my bank account all screwed up, I suspect I won’t see my return money any time soon.

                                This is all so ridiculous.

@justagey still nothing today either? I tried to call today but no one would help me because it hasn’t been 14 days since 2/27. They keep telling me to wait but serious mail does not take 14 days. It’s just ridiculous and they won’t even touch my return to process until I id verify myself.

@taxlive where on my return would that be or would I need to contact TT?

Yes they would. It should also be on your return I go when you got accepted. Unless they’ve made additional changes since their system crashed (the irs) last week then the control number should be the same and has been the acceptance transmitted control number… DCN number specifically

I’m curious too, as I also used TT to file, and have been waiting on a letter since 2/20.

I filed with Turbo Tax would they have that info?

So I work for a tax company and am in the same boat as many waiting on an Id verify letter…. while researching why I need the letter and finding it’s due to a control number listed I realized that the tax company I work for along with all other tax companies can see that control number you’re needing. So call and ask for your dcn or mef id because once you’ve been accepted by the irs these control numbers are sent to the tax companies for your records
