I came across something very interesting.
The processing system used by the IRS is 60 years old. The “coding” from that era doesn’t come close to our current systems. They have been talking about updating for a while now but the pricetag and manpower will cost the Government close to 60 million. The whole system needs to be updated. Until they do, we’re going to be very frustrated going forward. Any thoughts?

I believe it. Coupled with constantly changing tax law, the hold review for credits. It’s alot for an old fledgling system. One article I read stated the people who know the most about the dinosaur are aging out and retiring.

@JayRed I actually had an agent working in the Balance Due dept to state to me that the system was antiquated and needed to be overhauled. She said that it’s aggravating that certain things can’t be rushed or overridden by anyone. It’s up to the dinosaur systems.
