They sent me a letter wanting proof of income and childcare etc.. has anyone else got this letter? Worked for cash babysitting and side jobs all year. Still have 1 bar. Filed on the 19th of January.

You’re screwed if you can’t get written proof from whomever paid you on that income you claimed. They/you would have to send those documents or receipts with clear proof of services the payments were for.

Unfortunatly the IRS wants proof always….unless you owe them. They did this when I was younger….I had to send in whatever I could find and in the end I was screwed out of $$ due to the fact I had no real proof. Hope it goes well for you

If you worked for cash, try to round up the people you babysat for and ask them to provide receipts for the days you worked. You can buy a receipt book at any office supply store but some people might be annoyed to have to do this. You will have to estimate your pay to the best of your ability and hopefully they will agree with your estimates. If you are still getting paid the same way this year, definitely get your own receipt book to bring with you and have your clients sign each receipt for your actual pay each time you babysit so you won’t have this headache next year. Sorry this is happening to you.

Call the IRS, but dont you have invoices? People who you worked for should have filled a 1099-Misc
