My contract with my old company ended 12/30/18 and I got a check the second week of January 2019. I’ve been at my new company all year and I completely forgot that I would have a W-2 for that one check! Will they just correct it? Or deny it? Is it going to be a really long process, I’ve never done this before!

No worries, it will probably go through. I would recommend don’t do anything until you receive your refund, then amend. That is actually what the IRS prefers. I forgot a W-2 before, got return as normal then amended. No audit, it does not trigger an automatic audit…. The IRS are people, they know we are people too and make mistakes occasionally. Best wishes.

You’ll want to file a amendment but I’d wait until after you get your current refund if you are getting one.

Igmr is saying if you claim eic, your refund will be held and you will have to amend. I cannot find any info about this. And the only thing I found last year was 2 separate ppl saying they forgot to add a w2 as well but they later came back and said they was not held up. I’m wondering if this only applies if it lowers the refund. Otherwise wouldn’t the IRS just fix it like usual if they catch it.

                  Here we are again

I forgot a w2 as well. I filed 1/25, accepted 1/27… I’ll worry about mine next year.. It was for a job I worked for one hour..😂😑
