I file every January, and haven't gotten my return until May the last 4 years.

I’m always an early filer. Always have a simple return with just EIC. Always around the same amount. Always have no issues and get the return expected. 4-5 years ago the IRS started holding my refund until May. It’s happening every year now. I filed on the 15th this year and keep seeing people after me (with EIC) already approved with a DDD. I’m of course just accepted. I just don’t understand what’s going on. I called one year and they said it’s under review. That’s all I’ve known. Anyone else experience anything like this?

No. All they’ve ever told me was it’s under review.

That’s really odd. Do they ever have any explanation when you call them?

The first year it happened I got a letter saying I wasn’t getting my refund. So I forgot about it. Then in mid-May it just showed up in my account. And now it happens every year.
