@Carrie Denae
I had the Attorney General of my State help me. He actually called the hospital’s collection department and told them that wasn’t cool and they needed to cut me a check ASAP. -

Guys…She updated to say that she DID in fact owe. She was repaying a loan or something, but they took the entire amount this time.

First check your offset line to make sure you don’t have money being taken for student loans, etc. Second if they changed your refund amount you will receive an explanation in the mail.

I filed my taxes and claimed the stimulus as I did not get it about 2 weeks after filing I received my stimulus. Does anyone know if this will slow down me receiving my taxes and will the IRS automatically offset my refund.

Carrie, I know it’s not much since it’s a state, but when it happened with me and the department of education, I was able to fill out hardship forms with the DOE and I got the money back. Maybe the state has something like that.

You may owe an offset
Maybe prior years unemployment taxes.
Shouldn’t be unemployment taxes as you have until April 15th.Also remember Child Support will snatch your shit up faster than anybody

Welp I was WRONG, I owe $ to the state of Illinois, I make monthly payments of $50 , haven been for 2 years, never missed one! This year, they took $3800 of my refund! I am livid. We have to move! I needed that money bad! Now I don’t know how we will move. I am mentally exhausted.

No I owed nothing. I was employeed all year. I even called the offset line. That says I owe nothing! This is NOT good at all. We need that money to move. It shows refund issued of $5,915 NO offsets but my account only has $2,112 in it! I’ll be calling the IRS in the morning and Turbo Tax since I used them.

Might not show an offset. Did you owe unemployment taxes?
