I’m going to say that this is the first and last year I will ever be visiting and HR Block office to do my taxes, as well as having my refund deposited on their damn Emerald card, or any other place besides my checking account. I usually file from home online, but only went to HR Block to get the refund advance thing due to how late taxes were being processed this year due to PATH. Anyway I didn’t get approved for their dumb advance, despite getting a sizable refund.

Anyway to my main point, being the first and assumably last time I will ever use the Emerald card I need to ask what experiences others have had with it? I’ve been reading that they hold everything till the exact DD date, and in other instances like a normal bank they release it as soon as they get it which is usually within two to three days after the second WMR bar appears.

So I want to know what everyone’s experience has been with this.

I’ve used H&R block for around 10 years, I usually get my refund the night before the DDD. So hopefully I’ll get it tonight as its scheduled to be deposited tomorrow, 2/22/17.
          Filed and accepted 1/24/17.

Nobody has gotten anything yet, including clear answers from HR Block itself.

For HR Block. If you chose to pay for your tax preparation fees with your refund (Refund Anticipation Check), the IRS will send the funds to BofI Federal Bank. There, the amount owed to H&R Block will be deducted from your refund and the remaining funds will be direct deposited to your Emerald Card or bank account, whichever you chose. This process is a bank-to-bank transfer, which means it can take 3-5 days before the funds are available in your account.

I go through hr block every year and they always deposit on the actual DD. I’ve never received it earlier. But this year is the first year I was approved for the advance. It’s supposed to come directly out once the money hits (the loan repayment I mean) so hopefully all goes well.

I use a regular bank and haven’t gotten mine early. My DDD is the 22nd.
