Just a friendly reminder that if you have an offset ie child support, you can call the treasury offsite hotline and the automated system will give you your ddd, but AFTER you return has been processed and the offset applied.

@dragonmomma Yes it will. Just call them. The system will tell you how much was offset is for and the date of your refund that it is associated with. You can subtract that amount by the amount you are anticipating.

@calvster I figured it out after the fact, it was for a Louisiana state tax offset. But the hotline didn’t provide info on it. But once I realized the $506 difference when I got my refund I had a feeling it was for something regarding my state taxes, which was crazy because I got a refund $1 shy back for my state taxes last year. But I didn’t definitely know until I got the letter almost 2 weeks after I had already got my federal refund lol. But I did receive my federal refund 11 days prior to my direct deposit date.

I mean once they are done processing my return will it update with the amount and my ddd?

I have a tax offset but the system just gives me the number to call about it for more information. once I have a ddd will it update with the amount.

@john … Who did you file with? Maybe it was the fees associated with filing your return. Most places will TAX your return, no pun intended. lol

Last year, I had an offset but wasn’t able to figure out where it went until after I got my refund and not until receiving my DD. Called and called the hotline was told I didn’t have an offset but clearly I did because once my refund posted I knew it was several$100s short…but it’s the I, R, and the S lol. Nothing is always as smoothly as it seems lol.
