So yes we got the lovely update last night. My DDD is 2/23 I called Chase nothing is pending even for next week. The IRS screwed this up big time. Now I have to do a cash advance to pay my realtor and pay fees and interest on it. If the PATH didn’t exist I would have had my refund the first week of Feb like I always do.
So I have given up hope. I will see the money no earlier than 2/23.
Good luck to everyone.

I wish I could delete this tread bc I could care less about waiting anymore. People keep writing on this and insulting my intelligence and my job when I havent asked one single tax question on this board. I was venting my frustrations yesterday and everyone who is talking shit literally has no life but to sit here and say things they have no idea what they are talking about. It’s really pathetic that people feel the need to do that, key board warriors. What a sad life. Anyway I won’t be on here anymore. Good luck everyone.

To everyone who is talking trash to us (yes including myself) to depend on our tax refunds every year to get thru another year…It must be nice to be perfect! Can you tell me your secret? 🙄
Seriously stop judging other people. Everyone of us has our own lives that we are trying to do the best we can for ourselves and our children and families. Do we all do it the same way? Nope. Does that mean one persons way is the right way and another’s is the wrong way? Nope. Everyone has a right to their opinions. But where does anyone get off chastising someone else because they made different decisions? Nobody and I mean not one single person is perfect. Have a little compassion for others.
This board is meant for information and venting. If someone needs to vent their worries about bills piling up or worrying about refunds being approved or whatever the case may be, it’s ok!! If you don’t agree fine. Shake your head, tell your friends whatever. But don’t be nasty, rude, or start judging others. You only make them feel worse about an already anxious situation. Was that your purpose? Cause I don’t think anyone was deliberately trying to hurt another person. I hope…I know for me, My Refund is the ONLY time in my life I ever receive that much money in one lump sum. I have a feeling that goes for a lot us. That’s why we depend on this once a year “gift”.
Now please. Everyone lets be happy we FINALLY are getting our money. THANK GOD IN HEAVEN!!! Lol.
Oh BTW my ddd is 2/23 and I have Netspend and no deposit yet. I keep checking tho. Fingers crossed.

whats dangerous is that a “tax preparer” gets online and asks questions about thins she should know about which tell me being a tax preparer aint much of shit anymore. i see liberty hiring every year people off the streets. you sit and type numbers into a data program.. not rocket science. and she should def know how the ach works. 2016 and people dont understand the ach is amazing.

@MrsDennyM You seem more angry than I do LOL I’ve been over this. You guys just keep commenting an old thread LOL. Also I work in TAX RESOLUTION. My clients don’t see refunds because they owe the IRS thousands of dollars. I don’t promise anything to anyone. I have no idea where you are getting that from. You are assuming and judging when you really have no clue what you are talking about. So go babble on. lol hopefully you have a better day.

@MrsdennyM
Do you know what else is stupid? Trying to prove yourself to a bunch of strangers on the internet. I can guarantee you that not one person on this site gives a flying f**k who you are, how well off you are, what you have, or what your opinion is… :/ Did you know that the majority of people that day they have all these things and brag about things don’t actually have any of it at all? It’s psych science. Anyway, if you have such an issue with what Sarah said, just get off her thread. Your comments don’t help, hinder or matter to anyone here. You are about as irrelevant as the 21 day turnaround we were given by the irs. Which trust me, was completely irrelevant this year!! @Sarah I too have four kids and struggle all year, last year I bought a house with my income tax so i know how you feel girl, go get It! It’ll all fall into place for you.

Wait. .. Sarah… You prepare taxes for a living… And you are angry that you don’t have your refund in hand and planned on your money to cover something important? WOW… Sure hope you didn’t promise funds to people who hired you this year. Like an obese person trying to teach others to be healthy… Just wrong. Smh.
-
February 19, 2017 at 8:30 am #4179160Your Good Friend
If your refund is 2/23, i’m not sure it would be pending yet.
-
February 19, 2017 at 8:25 am #4179155MrsDennyM
I guess you won’t depend on the refund next year. That’s just a bad choice all together. No one should depend on their refund to pay anything. It should be treated like money that was in a savings account all year that you simply couldn’t touch until the government says so because that’s pretty much what it is. A savings account without earning any interest.
So that’s what I call “stupid tax/fee”
When you’re stupid and make a stupid choice that ends up costing you more money because if you were smart you would have done it the smart way and not pay for that.
I’ve been stupid and paid stupid fees in the past. As of today, I have my home paid off, one car loan, and over 1k in an emergency fund. I don’t do stupid things anymore. Took me a while to get here… Guess I decided being stupid was easier than planning it out and not risking paying extra fees. It cost a lot to be stupid.
I did a cash advance with my car title once and paid back 1000 bucks in interest on a 700 dollar loan. Just stupid!

I will continue to file early
I file the minute I have all my papers in hand .
I know the path act is frustrating but this is the first year of it.Next year we will all know better how to prepare.
I am just glad the Irs is not doing like the state of Ga.
This year they expect refunds to take up to 90 days (I’ve always had my state before my federal) and if you have moved, are a first time filer or haven’t filed in 5 years you will get mailed a check no dd.
I’m just glad the IRS did not go that crazy.I don’t trust my checks in the mail.
I hope every one wakes up and has there taxes on the ddd the system issues.I know this year has been hell but hey now we know at least. -

@MissJ thank you, that was really nice of you to say.

@Sarah
Don’t give them the satisfaction of getting you upset. The ones who have to attack others via online or any other way are expressing how they feel about themselves and transferring it onto you. It’s an attempt at trying to feel better about themselves, but in the end, they only hurt themselves by having this anger and negativity active within their own vibration.
You know what you do and who you do it for. (Your 4 kids) The opinions of you by nameless attention seekers should mean nothing to you. To those 4 kids, you are Superwoman, and that is all that should really matter.
My unconditional love to all of you! -

@Ray Craig
Regarding reform and streamlining the refund process…
They have its called e-file and direct deposit… the process was so streamlined that fraudsters realized they could cheat the system and good to honest tax payers out of millions of dollars each year. I’m honestly glad to see some action being taken to refine the review process and slow down/stop fraudulent returns. Let’s hope that the money saved and actions taken this year and subsequent years goes to better organize this whole PATH Act, provide even more accurate information to filers of WHEN to expect to see funds in their accounts. I applaud the IRS to meet their 2/27 deadline even while fielding millions of calls from filers who weren’t even at their 21 days yet! With that said, do I need my money now? You betcha, but I knew before I even submitted what to expect. I really was sure the IRS wouldn’t meet their initial estimates, so again kudos to them!

February 19, 2017 at 1:12 am #4179074Kit0kat2009
I’m confused by the person saying the people who have dd earlier for 22 got them because they had to send them out 2 biz days ahead to make sure they arrived by ddd..
If that was true would 23 be the same. Considering the weekend and holiday could delay them just like it would for the 22 ers…
Sooo how does that bs make since!
Oh it doesn’t… Its a luck of the draw type thing.

By the way who the fuck said I needed it for survival. I said I needed it for my realtor because I am moving into a safer and bigger house for my children. Gtfo

Ah actually I make 3k a month as a tax preparer. I am a single mother of 4 children. Who i do not get assistance from the government nor do I get help from their dad. It’s just me. Me alone. Food rent electricity gas car payment diapers formula. It’s all me baby. This is still MY MONEY that I want back. Supplemental income? Ah sit down lady. Do you not know how refunds work? You guys must be so damn slow. The IRS didn’t say they would give it out by the 27th they projected that because some banks hold the refund and process. Some get fees taken out. I think @Cgirl you need to get a life just like then other fella down below. Of course you had to comemnt on mine because you want to create drama. Just move on with your life.
-
February 19, 2017 at 12:41 am #4179057CGirl
I’ve only commented on these threads with updates to my status or questions. But I had to comment on this. Tax refunds should not be relied on for survival. The IRS changed it up this year. It was unprecedented so no one knew what to expect, but we were expecting delays. They sent out the information way ahead of time letting people know do not become dependent on the money. At the very least don’t expect it until 2/27.
People have come on here every day angry for what they already knew. If you get it on the 23rd be grateful that it’s 4 days earlier than the IRS estimated. Sheesh!!!
What do you guys do the other 364 days of the year???

This hiloshark guy is a jackass, dude comes in here all “I’m sick” of this like he frikken owns the place. Sit down bro, focus on YOUR life.
-
February 18, 2017 at 6:14 pm #4178429Jon
Come on now, everyone knows this is NOT to be used as supplemental income.
The IRS did this because the massive amount of fraud, so technically scumbags ruining the system for everyone else did this.

Me too. Will just let Google and NACHA do the talking.
https://www.nacha.org/rules/same-day-ach-moving-payments-faster
Its not a big deal. Just don’t want folks who have been put through the wringer this year to have expectations of things not possible today but will be in the near future.
They are in phase one.
No one was attacking your education or knowledge honestly.
It’s been a lonnnggg tax wait.

You know what, im just gonna shut up and leave it alone. My major is Finance, I know all the ins and outs. May not be working in the financial industry currently but still know a great value. . A wire transfer,my amex serve would not have sent me an email informing me that my Direct Deposit has been processed in the amount of $x.xx
I’m done!!
-
February 18, 2017 at 3:07 pm #4178583Ellie
@willbeaus
The money may have been wired to your account. You wouldn’t know the difference on your end.
I have seen employers wire payroll when they have messed up. There is a law that says you have to get paid on your specified payday.
-
February 18, 2017 at 3:01 pm #4178580
An ach can also take place within hours. Back in December during the busy holiday my employer once forgot to submit our payroll due to the hectic schedule. They submitted Thursday morning and I had my money Thursday afternoon dd in my account, so all that 3day stuff is just a way to hold your money..its bs, not for debate, just stating a fact…
-
February 18, 2017 at 2:52 pm #4178577Ellie
@Tam
Wire transfers and ACH deposits are like the difference between a cashiers check and a regular check.
Wire transfers are guaranteed money. And because they are there is a fee to send that way. Think western union. That’s a wire.
ACH deposits are sent in batches. Many at a time. And can be stopped or “called back” by the sender. They take 2 to 3 business days and are usually free.

It would be nice to see tax reform over at the IRS.The current administration needs to look into streamlining and simplifying the tax refund and dispersement process.Although they are dealing with millions of returns,in this day and age surely they can come up with an expedited way to get the money back into the hands of the taxpayers. Its good for the economy if they do this.
-
February 18, 2017 at 2:26 pm #4178556
Yup…we are in the whole payday loan scenario too.I’m on a fixed income due to neck surgery gone bad. So this whole path act thing REALLY just about cooked our financial goose.Tough to put your mortgage off when its due like YESTERDAY.Hope next year will be less bumpy. This years process is sucking big time.Have a ddd of the 23rd…and PRAYING I get it at least a day sooner.Altho tonight would be a Godsend.Good luck to you.Hope it works out.
-
February 18, 2017 at 1:38 pm #4178520Tam
Are funds sent like wire transfers? Is there someone that presses a magical button for each region? They’re released set by date right? Is your bank responsible for the immediate release or hold of funds?
-
February 18, 2017 at 1:35 pm #4178518Sarah
@kittyn I am sorry yeah this year sucks. Let’s hope the IRS does better next year. I won’t be filing before February 15th next year.
Hopefully you get yours soon too.

Also needing my tax check for house buying purposes. Thankfully I’m not on as tight a deadline as you, but still impatient so I can get everything started and get us moved in and etc etc.
I just want it sorted, dammit

February 18, 2017 at 1:11 pm #4178499Sarah
@hiloshark Can you just shut up! I am a tax preparer I prepared MY OWN RETURN I have NO FEES. I efiled it MYSELF! None of what you are saying pertains to me or my situation so please go write somewhere else.
-
February 18, 2017 at 1:08 pm #4178494hiloshark
2/22 refunds are showing because they had to send out dd 2 BIZ DAYS BEFORE . that was yesterday, hence why people are getting some depsoits today. but if they have fees taken out sbbt will not release early. they say it right on their site…once they recieve money they set up your ACH to hit your bank DDD
-
February 18, 2017 at 1:05 pm #4178489Sarah
@Ellie I’m not sure I’ve never been concerned enough to call the bank to check because my refunds were always issued within 10 days of filing. But I did call Chase she says she sees nothing even next week. Who knows if she was telling the truth a close friend of mine works at a bank, she see’s her refund already and her DDD is 2/22. She filed after me too. So it’s very frustrating.
Thank you I’m sure if will come 2/23, just disappointed and hope they do better next year.
-
February 18, 2017 at 12:36 pm #4178430Ellie
Well. The federal reserve has been closed since 3 pm yesterday. As has the us treasury. So.
If the funds were not sent yesterday….and I don’t think any 23rd DDDs were…..the next batch will probably be sent Tuesday morning.
They staggered the dates for a reason.
Most BANKS process once a day. The times very.
I am as anxious as you are. I just recognize I am not going to change my CU processing guidelines because I want my funds NOW.
Can Chase see it yet? Would they tell you if they could?
I know some banks won’t tell you if they can see it because a sender has the right to recall it right up to the specified ” make available ” date
Hope it works out for you…..
-
February 18, 2017 at 12:33 pm #4178424Sarah
@Gi Thank you, I hope so too but I’m just being bitter. I know my money will be there by the 23rd no matter what just frustrated that this happened this year. They need to figure out a better way for next tax season. I am not filing early next year.
-
February 18, 2017 at 12:29 pm #4178409Bridgette
Hiloshark..people are allowed to vent their frustations. You should be PREPARED to read about them or just don’t read the blog. Its annoying to me when people chose not to use spellcheck when its available.
-
February 18, 2017 at 12:20 pm #4178392Sarah
@hiloshark I am a tax preparer I know how this shit works. The IRS messed up, yes they said the 27th DUE TO BANKS not them releasing the funds. Are you slow? IT SAYS BY NOT ON, as to why people have got their refunds before their DDD. You need to take a CHILL PILL! I did prepare, that’s why I waited till after the 15th to commit to my realtor. But they couldn’t wait till after this weekend or they would have gave the house to someone else!!! You really should think before you speak.
-
February 18, 2017 at 12:16 pm #4178389Sarah
@WillBeas you are correct it can come between now and the 23rd. Chase told me once they receive it there’s no holds they will put it in my account. It says by not on. People need reading comprehension. Even the facebook page proves this is correct too.
-
February 18, 2017 at 12:08 pm #4178374
And if you’re over it, you can kindly erase yourself from our tax crazed community sir!!
-
February 18, 2017 at 12:06 pm #4178365
It says “by” the 23rd this is not a paycheck. Why must you keeo posting this BS, get a life!! They are suppose to release once they receive, not try and gain interest..by the 23rd, by the 23rd…is it clear yet!!
-
February 18, 2017 at 12:06 pm #4178364Gi
Maybe because that’s what the board is for, hiloshark.
I’m sorry Sarah. Hope you don’t have to pay too much.
-
February 18, 2017 at 12:01 pm #4178354hiloshark
dude….I really wish people undterstood how this shit works. the irs didnt screw anything up. your ddd is the 23rd. theres a holiiday monday. and honestly im tired of people bitching about the path act. its done and over with.. people with eic WILL NEVER GET YOU REFUNDS BEFORE FEB 15th again. those days are over. they told us all to not expect refunds till maybe the 27th because of all of this. how can one not only not be prepaired for this delay since weve known about it since the day we filed at least but flood the boards with shit.
