So I am totally confused as to what’s going on concerning my tax refund.

I electronically filed via TaxSlayer on 1/28 and got notification within 30-45 minutes that my tax return had been accepted. I filed married-joint, no credits, itemized.

I had 1 bar on the WMR site until 2/4 when my bar disapeared. Now it states ‘your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available’. It still shows my expected refund amount on the left hand side. Also, when my wife checks the WMR site it still gives her 1 bar.

Upon reading this information I went ahead and called the IRS. I spoke with a lady who took my SSN and looked up my account. She told me that I would need to do ID verification. So I called the ID verificaiton number and was told that I needed to wait until I had a letter sent to me as they needed some numbers off of the letter.

However, since then I have called and spoke to 2 additional IRS people and each of them has looked up my tax return information. Both say there are no notations on my account and both said they believe I will see my refund within 21 days.

I am SO CONFUSED? Anyone else dealt with anything similar?

I tried to order transcripts and can’t order return transcripts for 2016 yet. Is it possible that I am just a weekly update and everything will update this weekend?

Any information or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would check Saturday morning. The big updates appear Saturday and Tuesday mornings.

So since I filed on 1/28 (Saturday) it’s possible that it could have had me re-cycled? If so would I see an update this weekend?

It’s a generic response by both. They cannot fully tell you what’s going on until 21 days have passed. It is possible you’re being re-sequenced due to a bad cycle code. The one thing most everyone here doesn’t realize, that electronic acceptance confirmation is not actual acceptance. That’s just saying you passed an initial check and their loading service has accepted the return. the main IRS system won’t accept it until the next business day or if filed on a friday or weekend, the following Monday. Which is where a lot of cycle code re-sequences occur.
