It is closing in on 48 hours since I filed with TaxACT (for the very first time) and my return has not been accepted. I’ve always used TurboTax but it was acting wonky this year so I tried TaxACT. In past years my return was always accepted in less than 12 hours so this is a bit scary. I also found that there are quite a few horror stories about TaxACT that I didn’t know about before I decided to use them.

Filed 1/21, accepted 1/22 w/ TaxAct.
It did take longer than usual to accept (usually same day)
Also still on one bar and I’m a daily. Filing single w/ no credits. I’ve seen other people who have received their DD already, so hoping for an update tonight.

I was told the same. After one has already been accepted, the other one will be reflected. Causing no delays. I had a problem with turbo tax a few years back, my state was stuck in limbo, so I refiled and it was accepted and my one with turbo tax was eventually rejected as a duplicate. Same this year, I filed with turbo tax, received a W-2 after I filed, so refiled with TaxACT and was accepted right away. Turbo tax is still pending, with an original projected acceptance date of 1/11… Now updated to 1/30, but it will be rejected anyways.

From what I was told it was just cause one to be rejected.

Will filing twice cause a delay in your refund?

Mine was never accepted. I ended up filing another return with Turbo Tax after I read the reviews for TaxAct. I panicked and thought better safe than sorry. My TurboTax return was accepted on the 15th and tax act is saying they can’t find my return so I’m glad I filed again.

I filed with them for the first time too. It helps to know other people who filed with them are starting to get accepted.

I filed with TA last week on the 10th. I got the e-mail today that it was accepted. I have used Taxact for many years and never had a problem.

They are not starting to accept refunds until 1/28. I doubt very seriously that there will be early processing due to the partial shutdown. Many of the IRS workers are working without pay, and many of the departments in the IRS are still closed due to the partial shutdown.
This is going to be a very bad tax season. A lot of the employees are writing to Congress and senators to get this issue fixed, but if the government isn’t willing to be adults about this, it can last for months.
No, I am not saying that refunds are being delayed…… I am saying that with moral being low due to no pay (indentured servitude), refunds will be processed ON TIME rather than early, and once that is done, you can expect slow movement from their hands to the approval pile….. imagine yourself dealing with “Flash” from the movie Zootopia…… Yea… More like that. In other words…. early filers will be processed when tax season opens…. right along side of everyone else.
