Has anyone received their California tax refund yet??? How long does it take?? I heard it’s sometimes deposited before federal refund.

PiinkDuhh how long after the hold was released did you receive your refund please. I was told the hold would be released as of today and they say they are required to say 2 to 4 weeks.

Same story! First time CA refund taking longer time for me. Not sure whats going on. Reading other posting, no point in sharing mine. Have to wait, no choice!

I submitted my tax returns on Jan 22nd. They were excepted within the hour. I received my federal within the time frame given. It is now April 26th and I have not received my state tax returns. I have had to call many times. It took months to be able to see my info on the wheres my refund site. It always told me that there was errors and believe me there were no errors. I finally was able to talk with someone and was told that the refund would be direct deposited in 7 to 10 days that was on the 15th of April. When I go on the website it says 7 to 10 from April 15th as well. Well it has not happened yet… Still waiting. This is ridiculous. I have been waiting since Jan 22nd. No one seems to help and no one has any answers. WHAT A JOKE!!!!!

Just got off the phone with the FTB. Anyone expecting a refund over $10,000 won’t be getting it anytime soon. I was told that those returns “are being manually processed and will take 8 to 12 weeks”.

An update on my CA filing. As of 4/21, FTB still can’t find my info. It has now been 13 business days since I filed on 4/4. This is especially stressful since they owe me close to 13K in refund and being overseas, any notification for additional information won’t get to me until I am back in the States to get my mail. Anyone who filed late March or April received their refunds? Any of you having the same problem with FTB not being able to find your info?

eFiled on 3/29. CA accepted. Still haven’t paid but I’m just at the end of the stated 7-12 business days. Tried to check status by entering zip code, SS, etc, but all I get are error messages. Does that work for anyone else? But since I pay quarterly estimated taxes I have an FTB account. When I log in they admit that the refund is due, but no status on when it will be paid.

BTW, CA never pays as fast as the U.S. Treasury.

Sharing mine in hopes that someone can shed some light on this … For the first time in many years, CA actually owed me a lot of money because it took out more than it should on my severance checks. Long story short, filed on 4/4 via TT, accepted same day. As of 4/11 still can’t find my info FTB but the other state that owed me refund (one that was supposed to have 21 days delay – oh the irony) had already issued a check as of 4/8. Called FTB and they claimed that anything above 10K will require additional processing time this year and that I shouldn’t check back until June 2nd. Anyone who is owed a large refund had any luck receiving the refund? How long did it take?

Mine was authorized on March 28th and lady told me 7-10 business days before I see it in my bank account…but then she added that there is a possibility it could take 4to 8 weeks to show up …CRAZY….so it has been authorized to be deposited yet it still could be a month or two… dumb it’s all a bunch of BS!!

Oh my gawd this is so crazy…I filed the 23rd of Jan. ..got fed the 10th of Feb….state showed they got it on the 23rd for about 2 days then the thing came up of we can’t find your info does not match..I then called the lady tells me a letter was sent to my employer and I will find out what is going on in letter I get letter abd it wants me to verify signatures and to verify I filed.i signed and faxed it back the same day…waited another 3 weeks and I called the lady tells me we can’t find any info I hold forever and she comes back on and tells me give it a week and call back…call back and the guy tells me wait at least another two weeks and I should know something they are swamped ….ummmm I have a idea get your shit together ftb it’s my dam money I am tired of the run around!!!! I called and scheduled a callback, spoke to a rep that told me my refund was under review didn’t give me a specific reason just said they have in till April 21 to process it. So I pretty much have given up on that.

efiled on Jan. 19, accepted on Jan. 19, Payment authorized 3 weeks later on Feb.9 saying I would receive my check in 25 business days which is 5 weeks more, so 8 weeks total to receive my refund.

i filed on the 24th of Jan. I was never able to get an update on the website.
On 2/10 i called since they say 7-10 days using efile. spoke to a lady and said that my money was being deposited on the 11th! I bank with BOA and i just got the funds in my account this morning.

Finally! I checked today, my refund has been authorized, Wednesday, Feb 10th. E-filed was accepted 1/22/16. It took a lot longer this year, probably due to a lot of changes (Obama care, fraudulent filing etc…)

HOPEFULLY this helps someone. i filed on 1/16 and was accepted on 1/19. I was able to check my refund status online ONCE and since then not again. So today (2/10) i called FTB they put you in a que so you dont have to wait, they’ll call you back. When i got my call back i had to give the generic info Name, Social, DOB she pulled up my account and stated that i was finished processing but for whatever reason there was a hold on my account. After being on hold for about 30 seconds she came back and told me that she was able to lift the hold and that i should receive my refund by 2/22 and call back if i hadnt.

TRY & CALL PEOPLE! there may be some hold they have on your account.

Filed and accepted 01/22. Got my Federal today. Still showing that it is unable to locate me on the CA page, and we haven’t seen our state deposited yet. I was starting to worry, so I’m a little relieved to see that others aren’t able to see theirs either. Hopefully we see the money soon!

I filed CA State Tax return on Jan 19, but got rejected so corrected and re-submitted Jan 20th and accepted on Jan 22. I have called twice now, representatives told me my return is fine and they are currently processing it. Both representatives told me it could take up to two weeks. This is the first year that I have to wait this long for my CA State return. Website said “We are unable to provide your refund status online” It’s frustrating! I already have gotten my Fed return last week, filed same time.

I filed my state on Jan 13, 2016 and have not received my refund, everytime I call they tell me something different and that it is still processing. It is going on 4 weeks and also when I call unable to get a representative right aways says that the hold time 3 hours I can have someone call me back at that time if I leave my name and phone number

I called ftb and was told that they were switching data bases, so a lot of refunds were being delayed. Could be up to 12 weeks to process this year! Hoping that’s a big exaggeration!

@diana- when were you authorized? most people receive it within 3 to 4 business days from the date they were authorized.

i was authorized on the 23rd but my funds were rejected due to wrong account info (bummer!) i called FTB and was told my info was sent to a 3rd party company to issue my check and to allow 2 weeks to receive it.

i am truly hoping to receive it sooner, i was really counting on it.

Filed 1/25, accepted 1/25 and it says on their website that my refund is delayed. Possible reasons could include missing or incomplete information, etc etc and that it could take 8-10 weeks to see my refund.

At first I saw a lot of people getting that same message so I thought it was a default message or some kind of glitch. But I did my friends taxes and checked on her refund today and hers was authorized for DD on Feb 1! And hers was 10x the amount of mine.

@YGar, I believe you’ll still receive direct deposit. I had a small offset a few years ago and it didn’t delay my refund at all and it was still direct deposited.

I ALWAYS get my return before federal and i have still not got my CA state. Accepted on 1/19. Called over and over. Since its been over 10 days, they put in a request to review it but they said it could take 4-6 weeks. Worried and very broke! Will never count on tax again! THis year is bad!

I filed on Feb 18 and accepted Feb 19 this morning I called ftb because it has been 10 business days. A guy named Erin told me that even though they say you should have your refund within 7-10 days it’s taking a little longer. He told me that everything was ok with my return and that they are just verifying my refund. he said that if I didn’t receive it by Friday at the latest to call them back. I have always received my refund from them in under 7 days. It’s very odd for California to take this long but I guess with all the fraudulent returns filed last year they are making sure it won’t happen this year. If you receive your state between now and Friday post and let us know and I’ll do the same.
