Has anyone who woke up to 1541 this morning, or got this code this year spoken to the IRS about it? If so, what did they say? I have been unable to get a live person and unable to view transcript online. I am curious what everyone else’s experience has been so far. Today seems to be the first time this year that anyone has posted about it here.

Yes several people have called about it including myself. People just keep making new posts about it instead of following up with the older ones. Smfh

I am on hold with IRS about 1541 code and initially she said it is due to offset and directed me to offset line which I have already done and I absolutely have no offsets so now she is digging deeper to see why this code is popping up for me. I know everyone’s tax situation is different but as of now it sounds like they have no idea why this code is popping up and were quick to give me any excuse. I filed 1/16 and accepted same day. So she also just said that my account has been pulled for further review, She said that could be because employer hasn’t sent over w2 info yet so they will not release refund until they can compare my income reported against w2 from employer. She said to allow 45 days from 2/25 which is my processing date apparently. UGH im in for a wait it looks like

I just hope we all get our refunds like we’re supposed to and none of us experience the hell we did last year.

@GiannasMom
Thanks for the information. I realize that 1542 is generic and can mean different things for different people but your experience definitely seems to confirm a pattern for this year and we (I think that I speak for most of us on this) thank you for sharing it. All we can do now is hope for the best and wait to see what happens Thanks.

What is the glitch everyone is talking about? I filed 1/6 Got an email from Liberty saying I was accepted 1/16 But WMR said it could provide no information on my return then on 2/8 finally I was able to get in with my info but I had the 1541 message.

I filed on 1/28. Got the 1541 code and called 2 days ago. The last looked into my acct and told me the hold was due to me not filing in 2013.

Because people are negative as hell! They lie and assume. Especially if it doesnt apply to them. I have called a total of 3 times now. And it has been over 21 days for me. I had them look specifically into my account. No problems. Refund is already processed with the approved amount. All we are waiting on is the 15th. Yes I’m glad you called and heard for yourself. That’s what I did. And I called a few x to be sure lol. And if anyone “doesnt believe us” or we are wrong, call for YOURSELVES

***UPDATE***
Ok, soooo, idk why so many folks are either lying on here or whether the agent I just spoke to is the liar. But she said, all code 1541 is , is a delay for EIC and nothing more and I’ll update on my 21st day.
She also said, since it’s not been 21 days since they started accepting refunds, she can’t look at my account for additional information or problems, and actually said they, themselves at this point don’t know as it’s not been 21 days yet. They can’t just magically open up your current year tax file on demand, there’s protocols and computers involved.
She reassured me over and over this isn’t like last year and that at this point all it is, is bc I claimed EIC and ACTC.
I feel MUCH better about my situation by talking to her, she made perfect sense and completely logical.
So there you have it.

I just called about the 1541 code I was told I didn’t put all my income from my jobs. Nonetheless I was informed there were no holds they fixed it themselves. I would be receiving a letter in the mail. I asked was there something I needed to do on my end. She told me no they fixed it themselves. So I shall see if my funds will be released.

Spoke to them two days ago. It’s a generic code that she told me 90% of the phone calls to the irs were in reference to 1541. It just means it is delayed. Update should be by the 15th, if nothing by the 18th then contact them. They are overwhelmed and these codes are like an airplane told to loop the runway again because there are too many planes. Do not worry. If by Saturday you don’t see s status update then be concerned. Just wait it out. Friday is supposedly the big day but I updated on Saturday last week so I’m assuming it will be the same. We just have to wait. Nothing can be done.

@redacted B, I would be interested in hearing about that call if you do call them. Please give us an update if you decide to call. I have only been given a very generic answer of “there are many reasons for this code, please call back after 21 days” and my transcripts are not available online. I ordered them by mail but I am assuming that I will more than likely have a change on WMR before I receive them.

Mine is still the same. I guess I’ll give in and call my wonderful friends at the irs later today or in the morning.

I also received the 1541 reference number as well. I was also told that its because we’re receiving EIC & Child Tax Credit. I’m told that funds will be released for us this Friday 2/15/2019. I hope that helps.

MrsSchmitty722, I am sorry, I wish that I could offer some info but I did not have a state refund for WV this year.

To clear up, I didn’t mean the 1541 code will be on your transcripts.
The code you’re looking for is 766 or 768 or both if you qualified for both credits.

@redacted is correct. It’s just a delay code. I spoke to the agent directly. Your transcripts may be available and you can MAYBE see the code there. I see it on my transcripts.

Off topic, but have you gotten any update at all from your WV return (I’m assuming WV from your username)?

I found this on the website for IRs codes
https://thecollegeinvestor.com/6186/irs-wmr-reference-codes/ and for code 1541 it’s saying -

Koka in another one of these 1541 topics did. She said they explained to her it was simply bc she had child tax and eic. There’s really no need in 27 posts about the same topic guys.

I woke up with the same code this morning after I had been sitting at 1 bar and TT 152 since 1/22. From what I am reading there are a lot of us getting that code but it’s a generic code pretty much just recognizing we have eic and actc. I was so confused that I went on this afternoon to look at my transcripts cause that code 1541 was freaking me out and per my transcripts it shows processing date of 2/25/2019 with cycle code 20190605
