Got a letter today that says they need an additional 60 days to review my info. Sent the 8862 with the correct box in and all that on May 20th. So now more waiting.

Talked to a super nice guy at the IRS. Turns out I did get the EITC, but didn’t check the box on my 8862 to reapply for the ACTC, which was why the amount was adjusted. So now I have to resubmit an 8862 with the ACTC box checked too. He said everything looked good and I qualified for it. Good to know that it was my screwup and not something on their end that may never get figured out. I will post when I hear anything about the ACTC in case anyone is also in this boat.

So, updated yesterday with a DDD of 5/1. Except the IRS took off the amount for EITC and said it was because they hadn’t gotten my 8862. Which of course they did, since they sent out my CP74…will call tomorrow and see WTF is up. At least part of it is moving along, but I can’t believe how screwed up this all is. I hope it doesn’t take forever for the rest of the funds to get released.

Filed and accepted with form 8862 on 1/28/19

                  Recieved notice cp74 dated 2/15/19

Wmr says “still being processed” no date. No tt152 showing. Full amout of refund showing.

Called irs (incredibly rude & stupid) on 3/28/19 (6 weeks from date on letter) and was told it takes 9 weeks not 6. Was told to call back on 4/8/19

Call back on 4/8/19 and was told to call back on 4/15 as 4/8 was the START of the 9th week (getting really frustrated now)

Called 4/15/19 and was told it has been in the errors department for at least 45 days and no letter has been sent to me stating why. Still no refund. Still no ddd. I really need that frakking money so wtf is it?

Update: Called the IRS today (the day my six weeks are up, and no return). Got a really nice lady who said that my CP74 was approved on Feb 25th and it would be nine weeks from that date. Not six weeks from the March 4th date on the notice. So who knows? She said it looked good and unless I got another letter to expect my refund by then.

                    Hope this helps…

Hello there. Just wanted to add to this, in case anyone else is in this situation…got my CP74 letter dated 3/4. So this would out my 6 weeks out at 4/15, which is this Monday. I did NOT update today with a DDD sadly, so I am going to assume that it is going to take longer than 6 weeks to get our refunds. Of course, there could always be something else wrong with my return, who knows? I would assume that the IRS would have sent something else by now if that were the case, but anything is possible this year.

I will call either Mon or Tues (probably Tues, since Mon is the day taxes are due and I bet it is going to be crazy on the phones) I’ll keep you all posted and let you know what I find out.

Omg also filed 2/4 accepted same day. Never got path. I initially had 1 bar and tt152. After couple wks bar went away. Then went to still processing. Have updated 3x only. This past wknd tt152 went away but refund amount came back on wmr. Called at 21 days was told i would also get this letter and that it would be mailed 2/25. Never got it. But today i got this letter dated 4/1. Says refund within 6wks. Ugh.

Filed 2/26 – Accepted same day.

                            CP74 – Received dated 3/18

Online has always shown “being processed”, full amount with 1 bar and code 152.

I’ll post again if any changes. Other sites have suggested refund is for sure after this letter cause it said if they had other concerns that they would’ve sent another letter the same day but who knows. I just know refunds take a lot longer to receive in the last 2 years.

I received a letter cp74 on 2/19 so now I have to wait 6 weeks for my refund which is ridiculous. WMR saying the same bs there is a delay in processing your refund, it been saying that since 2/15.

The letter is basically letting you know you are recertified for the eic because you were disqualified for the credits on a previous return . Now all you have to do is just wait on the wmr to update with your date. Hopefully it will be updated with a date in the morning because tonight/tomorrow morning between 330 and 6 is a major update for filers claiming the credits. Also keep in mind you can receive your refund up to 6 weeks after the date on the letter

Sandra – the CP-74 letter is not a bad letter. Were you previously disqualified from receiving the EIC? The letter is going to notify you that you are eligible for the credit again, effective with the return you just filed. Too bad the rep didn’t explain it to you.

I received the same letter yesterday.

1/25 – filed (had to file 8862), wmr showed 1
                                          bar same day
2/2 – WMR updated to Path no refund amount
2/16 – updated to ‘being processed’ with full
refund amount (not still being processed)
                                          2/18 – CP74 date- EIC recertified

No codes other than 152. Can’t get online transcripts.

I read a lot of old posts on multiple sites and it seems like maybe it delays our refund up to 6 weeks or we get the refund without the eic portion and then the eic was sent.

BUT There are people who in previous years got their letter after they had their full refund.

Maybe the cp74 notice just showed up 1st because of the extra week waiting on PATH delays this year? I know is my updates are on the same days with the same messages as many others so hopefully my DDD will be here in the morning like theirs.

                                          Hope that helps. Good luck!!
