Does anyone know if it really takes 7 businesses to get an answer on a hardship?

Anytime! They should send it the original way you requested. Unless the bank rejects it or there are some special circumstances. It should come the original way.

My TA told me I would get my return back by DD which is the way I requested when I filed.
        Still waiting for DDD :(

Thanks for the prayers and kind words guys, I appreciate it! Does anyone know if and when we get our refunds, does it get payed out the original way we requested when we first filled out or taxes or will they just mail us a paper check? I originally requested my refund get deposited onto my Netspend card but now I’m worried it won’t and they’ll just send out a paper check. Does anyone know?

I’m right there with you guys. This TA did not call me back, so I guess I wait until Monday to start calling again. I really am getting fed up sitting on the phone all day because of this stupid return! I really don’t like that everything now depends on this one TA and the IRS can no longer give me info on my own acct. Of course I’d get the slacker TA. Lol

Doug…thank you for advising because I didn’t know if you could do a walk in or not. Crazy how this tax year has affected so many people and I would have been upset to if I was in your shoes. Thank you for sharing that info. That’s a suggestion I definitely will not make to others. I pray that you also get answers soon and your refund. This has been the worst tax year that I have ever experienced. I’m not looking forward to future tax years because this one has made me not want to file taxes lol

Kate…I will be praying for you as well. We all depend on this refund so no it’s not dumb. I’m in the same boat. I’m on long term disability due to several health issues with 2 kids and bills. So trust me I understand. I don’t make the money I used to and I don’t have health insurance so a lot of my money is bills, food, and medication. It’s hard and it sucks that we all are going through this, but I am like you also praying that we all get good answers and refunds soon. My prayers are with you!

              @Eric
Just a warning, I did go into my local IRS office, got there at 10am was not called up until 2:41, I handed the gentleman my W2s that my advocate asked me for and the man told me the IRS did not request them so he could not scan them in or even make notes regarding my visit there. BIGGEST waste of time and BOY OH BOY WAS I MAD. I would definitely advise speaking to your advocate before going to an office. IRS SUCKS THIS YEAR@

I first spoke with my advocate on 2/23, who asked me to get a letter from my boss that states my years gross income and federal withholding. The bookkeeper faxed to her the same day. Yesterday I heard from my advocates manager who told me the info was received and sent to IRS and my advocate would call me on the 3/9 for an update. I claimed hardship because like a dummy I depended on my refund to pay large bills, including my 5 month past due car payment. Now I know this is stupid but my refund is more than half a year salary to me. I’m broke, I work hard, but childcare costs are 65% of my weekly salary. I barely make ends meet so yeah, I depend on this refund yearly. I have no idea If my hardship is approved or why the IRS is even reviewing my return. But it has been longer than 7 days for me. I wish the best to all of you and pray everynight that we all will get our refunds soon.

Tsargeano…This is just nuts!!! I thought they were suppose to be more helpful. Like I told Sharon this is ridiculous that you guys have experienced this with these ta it makes no sense. Why make it difficult knowing that the reason we are calling is because we need our money!!! I’m praying for you as well cause this is just dumbfounding that they are acting like this

I’ve been trying my TA all day today and nothing. I finally got sick of it and called his manger and left a message about 5 mins ago. I’m so sick of me being worried about my damn tax refund, it’s really starting to control my mood and how my day goes. It’s horrible not knowing what is going on. He just called me saying I needed to send a signed copy of my injured spouse form and he would call me by March 24th. March 24th!!? WTF!? I asked what happens next? He said he is going to send it to “them” and that was it. I didn’t get to ask him who “them” were and I don’t even know if the refund will get deposited onto my Netspend card like I originally had it setup with TurboTax or will I get a friggin paper check? This whole experience is nothing but bullshit!

                • #4188751

I hope the manager at least gives you a call soon! Sharon. I’m definitely praying for you. There are a lot of people who unfortunately in the same boat as us. All we can do is vent to each other and try to keep it together

                • #4188745

Do you know if there is a local office you could go to in your state ? I’m so sorry to hear that your going through this and I am praying for you. This is wrong.

Ok. I want to cry. They can’t tell me anything because my case has been assigned to the advocate. I told them my advocate is terrible and I can’t get him
He was supposed to call Tuesday he never did. I’ve left messages and he hasn’t called back. She said the best she could do was send a message to him. I called the IRS directly and was told it still shows as open and assigned to an advocate so she can’t give me any info. I thought getting an advocate was supposed to help. I feel like mine is being slowed down, and I still have no info. This is ridiculous!

                  • #4188717

That is just crazy!!! I don’t understand what their problem is. So all they can tell you is that your return hasn’t been processed yet?! I thought they were suppose to help you get answers. Are they going to continue to research and call you or that’s just it?

So I started at 8am this morning. Tried to get my tax advocate on the phone again. No luck, left yet another message. I called the 877 number, talked to them and explained that all I wanted was an update as to where I stand today because it’s been 2 1/2 weeks since my problem was closed. They tried to get him, no luck. They tried to call his manager, no luck. Finally she gives me a pin and transfer me where I wait for an hour until the line went dead. I called back explained what happened, they transfer me again. And it happened again. I get to the hour mark and it disconnects. I took a little break at that point because I was ready to lose it. Called back and am now currently at the 45 min mark. So still no info except that it hasn’t been processed yet!!!

So ready for a vacation after all this mess for sure.
My advocate called on Monday and told me that the problem was my employer reported wages $300 more than what my W2 said. She said that because it wasn’t a large amount I wouldn’t have to file an amended return and she was just going to have them adjust it. Said it should be resolved in 2 weeks. After reading what some people have said, im a bit worried that it won’t be done in 2 weeks though :/

                      • #4188557

lol for real Janie because I promise I have grown several gray hairs in the last several weeks!

That is crazy! There seems to be a ton of problems this year. Mine got flagged for a name change. I filed with my legal name that matches my SS#. The IRS system was not updated and kicked it out. Not really my fault, yet here I am. Frustrating!

                          • #4188540

I definitely would because I can only imagine how upset you are. I know I would be flying off the handle. It makes no sense not to just save a person from stressing just to call back and let them know where they stand. They don’t care cause it’s not their situation until the shoe is on the other foot. I know they have a lot of cases but sheesh take the time to stop and call someone and give them an update. I’m supposed to be getting a call but I’m just about to give up on this. My stress levels have been way too high behind all this mess the IRS is doing and not doing. My whole hold is a IRS debt. It’s like why does it take almost 3 weeks for y’all to pay yourselves!!! That’s ridiculous…

I am infuriated that he is not returning my phone calls. I can only get his voicemail but he never returns calls. I’m calling the main number tomorrow. Maybe they can reassign my case, or give me some info. Still can’t order transcripts so I assume this is pushing into another week.

                            • #4188524

Sharon….that’s crazy! Why waster your time and not give us that information day one instead of dragging you along. That’s not expediting your situation when you still have to wait 6-8 weeks. If he could help you, why not just call and say so as soon as he knew…smh! I’m sorry to hear that he hasn’t been calling you back. This whole tax year has been troubling!!!

I also have one. I feel like he’s doing nothing. It’s been 16 days since my return was “fixed” and nothing. Trying to get this guy on the phone is impossible. He was supposed to call on Tuesday with an update. I’m still waiting. I thought they were supposed to move things along.😡 He sent me a letter saying he expects to have this issue resolved by march 31st. Well so do I considering the IRS agent said it takes 6-8 weeks and march 31st would be the cutoff. Idiot.

                              • #4188519

Tsargeano…that’s not cool! He should be calling you back with an update. This whole situation has been a nightmare. I am now on hold waiting to talk to an advocate again since the person yesterday didn’t transfer me to speak with one yesterday. I am so upset because I feel like I am wasting my time and I’ve already wasted 24 plus business hours because someone didn’t know that they were suppose to get me over to intake. I just want to give up!

Oh, they said they had the power to expedite your refund but not sure how long it takes and if they will use DD if you originally chose that or send you a paper check.

Yeah, my guy called me in 3 days as well. But I had to fax in my injured spouse paperwork and a couple other things. Now my taxpayer advocate is blowing me off and not returning my calls. I got really pissed yesterday and called his manger and explained the situation. I faxed them what they need and I’m still not getting my calls returned. This guy is a real dick “Dennis Buffert” out of the Philly office. At least call me back for Christ sake!
