Anyone know how file hardship with irs. Was told by housing agency I could and they could possibly expedite return. I’m currently living in motel which is very expensive.

They told me may too. It’s crazy they can take sweet ass time with the path. But if you have to pay they don’t waste time taking your money.

They won’t do any hardships for people on PATH before PATH lifts anyway. If they do it for one person, even if its a legitimate hardship, then all the PATH’ers would claim hardships just to get their DD before the 15th.
I hope for everyone experiencing actual hardships, like OP, will get their refund this week or ASAP!

If it were dire, as it is in OP case, I’d get in touch w an tax advocate. Just to be sure! I bet if you called back, spoke to a different person, you may hear something different. They may have been instructed to say that to prevent hoards of filers trying to claim hardship. Ikd, my opinion.

So I just called to have my return expedited due to hardship.
The Lady I spoke with said that they are not accepting hardships for tax year 2021 until May.
Then I asked when I will receive my refund being a early filer with a cycle code of 20220405
it is still stuck with path act
She said on Thursday Feb 17th they will finish processing returns so PATH ACT Taxpayers should start receiving their 846 codes on their transcripts and DDD dates starting early next week.

How do i file a hardship with the irs?
Request an expedited refund by calling the IRS at 800-829-1040 (TTY/TDD 800-829-4059).
                    Explain your hardship situation; and.
Request a manual refund expedited to you.

I’m sorry to know this. I hope this info points you in the right direction. All the best, @Ladyluck84

I shared info, but it hasn’t posted here I see. I suppose it has to be approved by @igmr. It was just irs numbers, tax advocate information.
