I called IRS just now And got right thru. The guy was very hard to understand but he said (at least I hope this is what he said lol) my 971 code was a letter to me stating I qualify for the eic credit. I noticed every transcript says I got eic except the 2018 and was so bummed.

Anyone else ever get the “bad code” but ended up being an awesome code?!

I looked at my transcript and I have code 971. My only changes this year are adoption credit and ACTC. Out of my credits applied the only one missing is the adoption credit. So fustrated. Going to call today. I filed 1/22 and was acvepted 1/23. No DDD yet.

Hmmm…that is interesting. I looked it up too. Says for 2018 1 qualifying child, max income is $40,320. Let us know what you find out. Glad your code wasn’t something awful lol

Now I’m wondering if I should be upset with turbo tax. My income was 35k with one child. Turbo said I didn’t qualify for the eic but the IRS website says 40k is the income limits.
