Anyone with an offset showing on TOP line still get their refund? I’m confused because my transcript doesn’t show the offset, it was only today that TOP told me an amount. Other people with offsets are showing on their transcript.

@Got_it You got lucky that they didn’t catch yours this year. Congrats!

Yes – filing Injured Spouse WITH the return makes it much longer. I had a tiny student loan for years (that grew), with no income, so our refund was offset every year for probably 6 years.

The soonest my husband got that amount back was 3 weeks later. That’s because I called and lucked out with a really nice guy who caught it before it was actually sent off to the state… back when it was more manual. Only one year did it take FOREVER and that’s when I made the mistake of filing it WITH the return, thinking that would make it easier and faster if they had them both together. (That’s obviously what SHOULD be fastest, you’d think.) The refund didn’t come until May 22nd. At 14 weeks, I called and THEN they got the ball rolling. (And they actually seemed and told me it does say AT LEAST 14 weeks. Ugh.) It was another 2 weeks before the check came.

            You’re looking at mid-May, Mandie. :/ Sorry.

Had a DDD of 1/31. Line said I could be offset. I received my full refund this morning.

@Mandie Hope you don’t get Offset. My DDD was set for tomorrow, TOP said “may be offset” for a few days. Called again today and gave me an amount, taking my whole return.
I’ve read that filing Injured Spouse with your return can delay the refund, but if you filed it you might still get part of your return, just may take longer. I believe I read it was up to 14 weeks for processing Injured Spouse when filing with a return.

I filed yesterday and still haven’t been approved. Offset line says my husband’s refund MAY be offset with no amount. I also filed injured spouse since we are supposed to get quite a bit back and he only had 1000$ in income. My question is tho, since it says it may be offset and doesn’t give amounts, does that mean it may not be?

@Roz Yes I did call. It gave an amount, which was the full refund. Luckily I can file an injured spouse form and get part of it back since I filed a joint return. But I don’t get how the transcript can not give the offset and they still take it.

call the offset number it will tell you how much they took and who took it, yes they pay really fast when you have an offset 800-304-3107
