It’s unnecessary to hold everyone’s taxes up who are claiming PATH. It’s should only be used when requested by the taxpayer. The IRS has been requesting it for the taxpayer since 2015, and causing unnecessary hardships, especially in a time where inflation is at its highest. When you have cases where feuding ex’s might try to claim children not in their legal possession or they’re not the custodial parent this is when this safety net can be requested by the parent.

Scroll down to the very bottom of the IRS website and look at your Taxpayer Bill Of Rights. You can quote your rights to the IRS and Congress when you’re trying to address issues regarding your taxes. If more people start complaining about consistent issues, then maybe they will change what’s not working.

Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal recently sent the IRS a letter on Feb 12, 2022 it’s on the website. He does have email on his Congressional website, but I can’t seem to get links to post on this website.
