I got my 4883c letter on 2/16 and called and ID verified that same day. The lady I spoke with said everything checked out and she was putting me back in the system. Said it could be up to 9 weeks but generally it was 2-3 weeks. I still show the ‘Your return is still processing’ message as of this morning.

I filed on 1/29 and was accepted same day. Got the letter after missing bars but info was still there. Received the letter on 2/13 verified on 2/13 and was told could take 9 weeks and I had to get a paper check instead of direct deposit. Woke up Thursday to a mailed check date of 2/27. So fingers crossed it comes early. Hope this helps!

So this is my situation. Filed 1/23. Called 2/10 was told everything was fine. Was able to order blank account transcript, no return. Called back 2/13 told I was going to be receiving a letter to verify idenity. Called back everyday almost since, one rep said still processing, all others said I was due to get a letter. On Wednesday the 15th it went from a refund date will be provided when available to we have received your return and it’s being processed message. Never had path act. Friday the 17th was finally able to order return transcript. Next day woke up to a DDD of Feb 23. Called because at this point I’m totally confused and she said that she see why I was and she can see the notes that they were going to issue a letter but she’s showing approved with a DDD of Feb 23 and just hope nothing changes. I’m not calling back unless I don’t get it Thursday, but I’m hoping I do. Still have not and hope I don’t receive the ID letter, I just want my mulah lol

I received a 4883C letter. Called on the 17th verified identity. WMR updated from we have received you refund and processing. To processing refund no other updates. Cannot order return transcripts. Was told be up to 9 weeks.

Anyone receive a DDD since they verified their identity.

Filed on 1/26/17 and accepted same day. Received 4883c letter yesterday and called to verify identification. I was told to wait for DD in 9 weeks or earlier. Hopefully the wait won’t be that long.

I too received this letter. Filed on 2/5 and approved 2/6 with DDD of 2/13. On 2/11, bars disappeared and error code 1121 showed up saying there was a delay. I called multiple times until a rep finally told me I was flagged for identity theft and that he would send the 4883c letter out to me as he wasn’t seeing that it was sent out yet. He happened to provide me with the phone number that I would have to call so after hanging up with him, I went ahead and called. I lied and said I received the letter although the rep told me she was seeing in the system that I just spoke with someone about sending it out lol. She asked me for the control # on the letter and I just lied and said I wasn’t seeing it/wasn’t sure what she was asking. I think she took pity on me because she said it was ok and proceeded to ask me questions to verify my identity. She told me I was verified and that it could take up to 9wks. I called back the following day to confirm nothing was being held up and an agent confirmed for me that it was just to wait as everything looked good on their end.

Still waiting. WMR is still showing the error code. Hoping for an update over the weekend :/

I got this letter yesterday and called in and verified. He said 9 weeks as well, but also said that he was “pushing me through” and to call back in 9 weeks if I don’t have my money. Was hoping for a return transcript today, but I think I might have missed the deadline. Hoping for an update next week.

Lost bars 4 days later, went to received and processing.. last Thursday went to still processing no tt, blank account trans, no return trans..
I finally called last night and learned I needed to verify, never got a letter until they sent one last night.. called the taxpayer protection unit this morning and verified my situation, also told me wait for letter..tried to call my local irs to make appt, was also told to wait for letter..
My question is (really hoping here lol) what’s the chances of update before letter?! Lol I know it’s not likely but when I called the protection unit they had me verify information from my last taxes..why do that much without the letter?
If their gonna ask those same questions again is the letter just a formality??

I would wait for the letter, I called and was told there was absolutely nothing they could do without the letter. So I’m just waiting….and waiting….

I filed on 1/23 was accepted shortly thereafter . My bars disappeared on 1/27 . Got the 4883C letter in the mail on 2/6. Called to verify on 2/7. I was told 9wks to complete processing . I will get my Direct Deposit on 2/15. I would not suggest calling without the letter . It has a Control Number listed on it that they will ask you for.

I just googled 4883c letter. It gives the number to call if you have to verify ID. 1-800-830-5084 Wonder if you call it since you know you’re getting a letter they’d let you verify now. Might be worth a shot. Says to have this years and last years returns and w-2s available.

It says it’s the identity verification letter. Good news is once you verify identity it’s usually only a few days until you get a DDD even though they will tell you it could take up to 9 weeks. Happened to my friend. I have no bars so if they are sending me one of these I wish it would get here already. How long ago did you file?
