I’m an idiot and forgot to add a W2 to my tax return. I was accepted in the early test batches. I am not able to access my transcripts and am wondering will the irs approve this and send me my refund or will they make me amend it before approving?

Starting to feel like I am going to have to amend my return prior to even having it be approved and sent by IRS. I am currently unable to access my transcripts and haven’t received anything. Tonight’s my chance if WMR updates. If not I may be stuck in amendville

The same thing happened to me with my 1099-g coming after I submitted my taxes. What will happen to me? So far my taxes have been accepted. I can’t access my transcript yet and WMR hasn’t updated Past the first bar as of now. Any words???
Same position basically. Just waiting to see what happens.

They will approve it but if you get audited you could be fined. I would amend your return right away.
I was going to amend it right away. Just waiting

Yeah, same here. It never delayed my refund either.

I’ve done this plenty of times, my husband and I worked odd jobs one year and forgot a W2, they sent us a notice and told us we owe a balance, they took it out of our return the next year. It didn’t delay our refund. Good luck

I did this also. The difference is probably about 100 dollars. It first mines was saying it is being processed but now it’s saying still being processed. I have never been though this so I am so scared I will be waiting to June like my aunt did last yr.
Let us know if you have any progress and they issue you a refund.

My sister forgot to add a $97 W2 last year and they held her return until almost May. She filed 1/30/2020. While some people get lucky and it doesn’t delay their return that might not always be the case. So should you not see any movement after the 21 days I would consider amending to not further delay. Either way good luck! Hopefully they process it and you can amend after you get your refund.

You can file an amended return too but you should wait until you get your refund first.
The amount difference is like $400 between what I would get now and what it would be lower if I added the missing W2. I just was reading stuff and somebody said IRS has new software that validates all W2 related income when checking returns for this year. So was not sure.

This happened to me in 2018. Nothing will happen this year but they will catch it next year and send you a notice. That’s what happened to me anyway. I signed the paper they sent and agreed to what I owed them so they went back and changed my info for 2018 and now I owe them the difference this year.

Hello. I did the same exact thing and only realized after I was accepted. I was advised to wait until I get my refund to file the amendment. Someone even suggested they might automatically correct it so I’m just going to wait until my refund hits to correct anything to avoid potential delays.
You mind updating here if you receive funds for your return? I’ll do the same
