I e-filed my return, only for it to be rejected because I didn’t have my pin. Well my pin was mailed to my old address on file with the IRS from last year. I ended up having to mail in my return on March 20, received one bar about 5 days later, only for all bars to disappear, and the generic still processing message to pop up.
I waited about three weeks and finally called the IRS today and received the MOST HELPFUL woman, on my first time to call. I consider myself very lucky.
She informed me that because I had identity theft last year, and that I didn’t file with a pin, that was causing the hold up. She asked me some questions about last years return, I answered them, and then she was able to tell me that I was back in the processing sequence.
She of course gave me the 6-9 week time frame window, but then did assure me that it most likely won’t take that long.
Hope this helps anyone with missing bars. Moral of the story, missing bars doesn’t ALWAYS mean review. Call the IRS, and try to get information. Not I wait….again!
