I just have been reading on here the past week or so and I cannot believe the fees some of these places are charging!! What a rip off! I need to become an accountant…lol. Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know something, just trying to help for next year.

I have used Turbo Tax online for the past I don’t know how many years…at least 10. Anyway, it has gotten so easy to use! Even if you have all kinds of different situations. They ask EVERYTHING!! And there is a ton of help if by some chance you do get stuck. Yes, they have fees, but if you file early, they discount the fees till about 1/31?? Maybe first week of February? Say instead of $55, it’s $35. They will let you deduct fee from refund check OR pay up front. If you take outta refund check, it’s an addition $35. Usually I start with the Free and if I need to go up to the next level I go up. Until this year I usually spend total about $100 for everything Federal state fee’s removed from refund. I can log on anytime and access every return I’ve ever filed thru them. I can look at or print it. Save it on my computer…Anything.

The best part is this year?? They came out with the Freedom Edition. It’s not advertised so you have to google it and log on thru the link. But it’s the same as highest level but FREE!! Yes, you can have a prior account and still log on thru the Freedom Edition. I saw somewhere someone said you can’t but I did it. And so did my mother. If you just type in Turbo Tax.com it won’t show you Freedom Edition. IT’S NOT THE SAME AS FREE EDITION. Free level only gives absolute basics. Barely any help. Freedom Edition you get all the help and every perk they offer. No filing fees nothing. So just something to think about…Instead of paying a crapload of money next year!! BTW- using a netspend card? or any other prepaid card you get money deposited the minute they receive it. Regular Banks tend to hold till deposit date given…

      Hope that helps…

Ever since I started filing taxes in 2002 I have never once paid a fee.

          It’s really that simple.

if your income is below 50g i think it is, you can file completely free, just click through the its website. I paid 0 for federal or state filing with HR Block.

I, once again, recommend Taxhawk! I’ve been e-filing with Taxhawk for years and they’ve always been great. Plus, it’s free! Well, federal is free. State costs $14.95 I think.

@ZACKARYSMOM I agree with you 100% it is ridiculous how much these tax companies are charging people. I been doing my taxes for years now and I would never go back to a tax company to rip me off. I am showing my family how to do their own taxes now. I am thinking about opening a class to teach people how to become their own tax preparer.

This is my first year using tt. I used the freedom edition actually. So my federal cost $0 and my state cost $20. Years prior i would go to Jackson Hewitt and pay $300!!! Now I have that extra $280 in my pocket …😆

TaxAct only costs me a total of $25 every year and very easy to use

                        Greats

I love TT! This was my 2nd year using them. Last year I had dependents to claim, EIC, my college info, and retirement plan from a previous job that I had to pay taxes on since I cashed out and closed it… fed, state, and paid the service using my fed tax refund I believe I only paid $130 something? This year I’m having roughly $100 taken out for the fee.
