Although I’m not at my 21st day yet, I got this message and continue to question the efficiency of our government.
“We apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe.“
It’s incredible how unorganized this has become as transparency isn’t key here.

I currently have 766, 768, & 971. No hold or freeze codes. What does that mean?

Can anyone shed insight to how you are getting ahold of the IRS? Have tried calling multiple times and I can’t even get through to be on hold.

Taxes accepted 1/24. Got delay message early feb and today the bars popped back up with refund approved but my taxes were adjusted due to wrong earned income entered on my taxes. It said I would get my adjusted refund by 3/7, checked transcript and had an 846 code with a refund date of 3/2.

I filed mine with turbo tax and was accepted that next day. Every time I log onto the IRS website it says my 2021 tax return has not been processed! There are no transcripts avaliable for 2021. I logged on today and had the message its been delayed beyond normal return. It hasnt been 21 days yet. I also claimed the EIC not sure what to think…

Please update us and let us know when you get your refunds and/or updates. I just got the delayed message on WMR today. After my tax preparer filed my taxes I saw that he didn’t include the ACTC I received so I know my return will need to be adjusted.

We apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe. You can continue to check back here for the most up to date information regarding your refund. We understand your tax refund is very important and we are working to process your return as quickly as possible. I found Texas before my daughter She fell 2 weeks ago and she just got hers

I’m confused as to why it’s delayed. I have already reviewed one of my states refund. Might I add it was supposed to be direct deposited but received a check. I used Taxact.com I have used H&R Block the last couple years and prior to that filed myself with taxact

How do you get your transcript? Mine says my 2021 is not processed yet but weeks ago when I did mine on Tt they accepted it and the irs website was processing it. The delay message hasn’t changed and when I called they said it was in the error station being looked at but this was days ago.

Hi Yesterday I checked WMR and it displayed the delayed message. Checked transcript and it stated all 000 with NA but when I checked just morning at 8am I got the 846 code.
Cycle code: 20220705
Filed 1/28 EIC
Accepted : 1/29
As of date: 3/07
Transcripts updated this morning: 846 2/24
WMR states the delayed message -
February 18, 2022 at 8:13 am #4512667K
Hey everyone, mine still says the same thing “ we apologize but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe” but I downloaded my transcripts and it said “846 refund issued” it gives me a date for next week. I’m guessing that’s when I’ll get it hopefully. I’ll let y’all know.
-

So if you click the hyper li k it states that the irs is behind and will be issuing the first returns which claim the child earned income credit as of 03/01/2022.
It kinda does. It says it’ll process BY that date.

But people with easy returns are getting delayed and it’s crazy. I just hope the ones who need it get it asap!

@deepalms simple error mine is I left off one of the advance ctc payments. I’m assuming simple error is like an error on child tax credit payment or stimulus amounts. Irs can correct that quickly

-
February 17, 2022 at 5:29 pm #4512223
I was advised the simple errors are corrected quick. Pray is delayed wake up to an update 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Did they tell you what constitutes as a “simple error”?
-
February 17, 2022 at 5:28 pm #4512222
Yes I spoke to a Tax advocate and the IRS accountant today who told me the same thing. This message means the return…
Yeah I have the “being processed” message now and have codes 766, 768 and the 971.

All excuses. They take $ from our paychecks on a weekly basis with no issues. They should have a more efficient system and adequate staffing for refund season. They are well aware of what madness tax season brings and yet there are people that still haven’t received taxes from last year. It’s a slap in the face honestly having to wait so long for a damn return. What if everyone stopped paying taxes? I gurantee they will be very efficient trying to collect payment.
-
February 17, 2022 at 4:42 pm #4512183Neek
Yes I spoke to a Tax advocate and the IRS accountant today who told me the same thing. This message means the return went to the ERROR DEPARTMENT. And if you have no letter and no odd TT then they have corrected the error and it takes up to 8 weeks to get the refund out to you, I am in the same boat. Someone told me it won’t take that long but just stated what the irs told me.

If you research a little more, you will find that the IRS is overwhelmed and understaffed just like every other company and employer in the country. They are doing their best to process returns and get refunds out as fast as possible. I’m trying to patient myself. We have to all understand the overall affects of everything our country has been through. Lack of workers doesn’t make it any easier for anyone.

Still have the delay message and transcript say N/a, my tax preparer says on her end I was accepted Jan 25th (filed Jan 24th) I’m so confused anybody else with this same situation have and good news?

That’s crazy to think you haven’t gotten your DDD. Unless there’s an offset..? But that’s a personal matter!

My status went from processing should be available within 21 days now on the 24th days it states, We apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe. I claim 3 grandkids that live with me and was told I do not qualify for EIC because I make too much money, I entered the money received for Additional Child Tax Credit per notice I received from Dept of treasury, nothing has changed since last year except now I make $12,000 more a year.

WMR shows the delay message but when I log into my account online it shows `your 2021 tax return is not processed’ it was accepted on 1/24. In the transcript info it shows 2021 but it has nothing related to my 2021 retur.n. I am so confused.
-
February 17, 2022 at 8:28 am #4511687
@J
What do you mean exactly when you say error message -
February 17, 2022 at 7:48 am #4511648J
Filed 1/27 and they were accepted on 1/27 as well. Received the error message on 2/14 (wasn’t 21 days yet). I am now at day 21 with the error message still there. No changes have been made since last year, single filling with no extra credits. My tax return has never taken longer than 3 weeks in the past. How long after the 21 days with the error message did people start to see their return?
-
February 17, 2022 at 7:36 am #4511641Coco
I’m a pather and this is the first time I haven’t received the Path message. I only have the delayed message and today is my 21st day
-

You didn’t change to the PATH? Or are you not a pather?

February 16, 2022 at 1:39 pm #4511045Neek
Most definitely not true for me and a lot of other ppl I seen about the error dept.
-
February 16, 2022 at 12:00 pm #4511007K
This is what I got off a website about when you get
Our sources are telling us that this message is a system error. Specifically, it hasn’t even been 21 days yet for most filers, so nobody’s tax return is actually delayed yet. It appears that someone may have been working to program different error messages, and this flagged for users over the first weekend of February. If you’re seeing this message and it hasn’t been 21 days yet, you don’t need to worry.
-
February 16, 2022 at 11:13 am #4510975Neek
Path here. Have delayed message. Filed 1/15 accepted 1/19, delayed message since 2/6 Spoke to irs tax advocate said my return went to error dept and they corrected error on 2/8 and from there is takes up to 8 weeks to receive it. So there it is for me and the delayed message.
-
February 16, 2022 at 10:59 am #4510965Becky
Anyone actually recieved their redund yet after that message? Can you all give updates
Thanks -
February 16, 2022 at 9:44 am #4510848Ambedawn
@Von sounds like they processed it do you have an 846 code on your transcript yet? I have delay message and irs told me they were correcting a simple error and to check back Friday
-
February 16, 2022 at 9:19 am #4510815Von
i have the same message but i also have my transcripts do what does that mean?
-
February 15, 2022 at 8:45 pm #4510466K
I just got off the phone with the irs, he said that they’re behind and that there’s nothing wrong with my return. Also to add 2 weeks on top of my 21 days, if I don’t get anything by then to call them back.
-
February 15, 2022 at 7:22 pm #4510423Ambedawn
I talked to IRS just now. She stated he delay message is the error department and it is a simple error for me but if you have the delay message and have not gotten a letter it is good to call and see if you need a tax advocate. Child tax credit and stimulus errors are simple errors and will be adjusted automatically.
-
February 15, 2022 at 6:16 pm #4510395Tawana
What is the “delay message “? For the last 4 days my WMR has been showing me different messages. Not sure why. Claimed W2 W2G CTC EITC. Claimed 2 dependents 2020. This year only can claim one. Could that be it? Filed on 1/30 accepted on the same day.
-
February 15, 2022 at 6:08 pm #4510394K
I filed on the 28th and it got approved right away.. I woke up to find the same message, it’s ridicules. When I was filling it did say I got 2,800 from the stimulus but I remember (sort of) actually getting 2,700. Maybe that’s why it popped up? Idk but it’s bs
-
February 15, 2022 at 5:46 pm #4510388Austin
I am not sure what the heck is up with this year, I filed on 1/26 and recently got that same delay message. 2/16 is my 21st day and I am not optimistic that I will get my return for a while. I was seriously banking on it for vacation in March, as a college student this is a big deal for my monetary situation. Guess I will have to DoorDash and donate plasma frequently in order to save up some money to be able to enjoy myself.
-
February 15, 2022 at 4:06 pm #4510322Rick
Yep Filed 1/24 and accepted shortly after. Has said” We apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe.” almost ever since. Estimated date says 2/14/2021. Very crappy system I’ve never had this problem lol. Was budgeting for that date too now I have to accomodate. Crappy lol Hopefully its otw

I’m in the same boat. Filed 1/27 and I don’t have PATH but still only 1 bar on WMR, n/a on my 22 transcripts and now this delayed message appeared today (even though it’s only been 19/20 days). Never had any issues in prior years, always get my refund within 18 days or so.
Hoping that I just see the refund in my bank one of these days because WMR didn’t update correctly…
-
February 15, 2022 at 11:06 am #4510175Abby
I filed 1/19 and accepted on 1/20. Transcripts are still N/A. I’ve had the delay message since 2/8. I have CTC and the EIC. Tax preparer did my taxes. She says everything is fine. Just to wait til path lifts tonight. Pass three years I’ve been 0705 weekly on transcripts which will be this Friday.

-
February 15, 2022 at 7:58 am #4510068
I filed 1/27 eic and ctc head of household Tax Pro H&R Block.
I never received a path message went straight to no bars and delayed message on 2/14. I was told it was an error message and not to pay it any attention because I wasn’t passed my twenty one days. It’s a glitch on their part. So hopefully it doesn’t delay my refund. We will see maybe it will change this week. -
February 15, 2022 at 7:56 am #4510066Shane
The same message started showing up on my end yesterday (Feb. 14). Day 21 is supposed to be tomorrow. Not holding my breath.
-
February 15, 2022 at 7:49 am #4510063Vel
I got the same message and I’m not claiming any children, nor have I ever. So this message isn’t just for those who have kids. I don’t have any kids and got the message today, I filed on the 25th of January and was accepted same day.

-
February 14, 2022 at 9:53 am #45096112171USMC
Filed and Accepted the 27th of January, still no movement. Pather (EIC not Additional Child Tax Credit). I did forget to include my Advanced Child Tax Credit on my return. I was hoping for some change. I have no idea what my cycle is. It’s changed every year. Last year it was 01, year prior 05.
-
February 14, 2022 at 7:45 am #4509588Bernal
That message is for people who file with extra. Credit income earned who have kids. They were not going to start processing federal refunds with kids on them till Feb 12, 2022. But if you turned your in at the start of tax season Jan 24th you should have it March 1st or sooner.
-
February 13, 2022 at 8:26 pm #4509385
Sad to say but I have the same message I’m sick of the irs. Last year I didn’t get my refund until October 🤦🏽♀️
-
February 12, 2022 at 8:33 am #4508971
My WMR updated to this message today, earlier this morning. I filed and was accepted on 1/24/22. My as of date is 2/21/22 and my return transcript has N/A. I’m hoping that we update next Friday.
