I finally got a hold of someone at the IRS
Return accepted 2/11
ACTC
Had a baby in 2020
Filed with TTAccording to the IRS there is a math error in my tax return. Upon inspecting my transcripts it appears that one of my dependents (the baby I had in 2020) is not listed, but IS shown on my TT tax return. Additionally, when looking at my IRS return transcript it shows a discrepancy of $1100. Basically it lists the refund as listed by my tax preparer, and the refund by “computer” and they are $1100 different.
I claimed the additional stimulus money for having a child in 2020 that we did not receive as part of the first two stimulus payments, in total $1100 on line 30.
The rep on the phone said due to the math error I would get an letter in the mail, or it would not be sent until 3/29. That is the date of my 971 notice. Once I get the letter I can then call a special number to get it worked out, and my refund would be available 4-6 WEEKS after that.
Has anyone else who had a baby in 2020, claimed the additional stimmy funds, and gotten paid without issue.
I think the issue is my dependent is not listed, but she said the transcripts wont be officially up to date until 5/23 and that is probably why I dont see him on there.
Excuse me while I rage at the computer.
